The video has come out. Clearly shows a cop jumping on the old man, Mr. Patel and pinning him to the ground. The police chief has apologized and the cop has lost his job and got arrested. The entire incident was uncalled for. The duds of the south cant differentiate. Kneejerk reaction? May be.
Desis in USA have hardly protested. Looks like they want to be in the good books of Americans. Hope the guy recovers quickly.
I am not supporting the cops's behavior ... but bad cops will be there in any society and unfortunately some do get suffering because of them. Thanks to the technology and internet so that information can spread like wildfire which compels persons in charge to take necessary corrective actions. That is what happened in this case.
The desi grandfather was thinking it is India and he was peeking into neighbour's house. Someone got suspicious and called the cops.
The cop was a little heavy handed and the process is being followed (he was arrested)
Ultimately the cop will be freed with a reprimand and i think thats right

Are you there?
The family is pursuing legal action, which is the right thing to do to counter the behavior of over-reaching, incompetent police officers.

There is a dash cam video in the link above which shows what was done to the man.
In the end, the person who is suffering brutality is the poor old guy.

Totally agree with you "Blue Lobster" and Chittesh Ji please dont tell me that you were serious in your comments. When people take walks on a side walk it is pretty common for people to take a look into neighbourhood surroundings and especially people visting from India they are little curious about the unique archtiecture of our exterior buildings or beautifully manicured lawn & so on. That happens everywhere & not necessarily in india . I have so many white people walking in my neighbouthood and when my garage or front door is opened people do peek in but that does not mean i am suspecting them to be some pervert or a thief.
The video was so disturbing to watch and just imagining that this could have happened to our own parents is sending shivers to my whole body.

You're kidding, right? "A little heavy handed"? The old man may be partially paralyzed for life. You have to be an absolute moron of a police office (and a violent one at that, possibly racist) to do what this "policeman" did. He knew right off the bat that this man did not speak English and got upset when the man did not understand or follow his instructions? And then he body slams this skinny old guy? For what? Disgusting and very disturbing.
I highly doubt he'll be released with a reprimand. He's being arrested and the police chief is calling for his firing. If he's released with a reprimand, that will be shameful miscarriage of justice. This so called cop deserves nothing less than prison time.
the family did a right thing.....Cops should go to the jail too...
watch video end of the link....how cop react and how treat him....so brutal....
I feel sorry for the old guy and family....Hope get well soon.....
