I said I will be sleeping for 72 hrs, but TK kept on coming in my dreams, so I have briefly woken up.

If you keep it a bit muted & clean up the sidewalk, road etc of the colours afterwards & keep it during the day you should be fine. Usually having stuff in your backyard is way more safe than the front of your house. Tell your friends to clean all the snow in you backyard, so they can dance there :)..or maybe they can dance in the backyard snow itself :)

Also don't get colour on other people's houses, lawn , cars etc.

Holi is on March 6 NOT June 6...so its still winter :)

So You want people wearing Winter Jackets & dancing & singing & have water balloons thrown on them in - 10 C temperature & SNOW ? You want to kill them with Hypothermia ..LOL & ruin their expensive winter jackets with colours ? NO THANK YOU !

They are going to come inside your house later on to clean the colours or change clothes. They are NOT going to sit in their car just like that & go home. They will ruin your house & stain your house, furniture, carpet etc with colours.

As Adam advised, it is best to have it in your back yard.

Be sure to inform about your neighbours about loud music, singing and colours flying. Most of the Goras (if there are any) are allergic to powders (as they have never inhaled it ever) and they may not even like the powers flying in the atmosphere.

It is a big thing. If you donot inform neighbours, Police may come.

On the other hand, if you are having an attic or a big garage, you can close the doors and have it done there. To clean, just do a fresh coat of paint. Doing it indoors will reduce the risk.

Enjoy Holi responsibly.

We have a group of 10 families – just over 40 headcount. We postpone the Holi celebration for few months and pick any hot day of July. We celebrate the Holi with full enthusiasm in a large backyard with water and dry colors. Kids enjoy it most. We set up loud music with Holi songs, few water hoses and water games. After playing with water for an hour or so, we cook the food outside in group and enjoy the delayed Holi in Canada. Colors, water, loud music, dance, drinks and food – believe me, everyone in the group eagerly wait for Holi in July.

Something that I have always wanted to do since I would love the festival with all colours and water etc., but by the time summer comes, people have forgotten about it! So in case you do not mind, call me over when you do it next - would love to join.

(Though last year, since the days were reasonably warm around Holi time, one of my friends had organised it at his Brampton house, and after almost 25 years, I did play holi in the real sense with gulal and water!!)

Have people tried Holi @ the Hindu Sabha Temple , Brampton.

I recall on my maiden Holi visit there ( 3-4 years back) people were playing Holi in the basement with color & water... I wonder if it is like that every year .

The Holi-in-summer idea is awesome ...Redefines adaptability.
