Hi Canadian Desis (and non desis) :-)

I am looking for a contractor who builds quality decks - a reference from your personal experience. Basically the contractor should be good in suggesting the best layout as per available backyard space as well as perform real quality work. Price is not a concern and not looking for the cheapest contractor out there. Quality of workmanship, delivery time and design is really important.

Hoping someone can suggest considering the above.

I need something built within 2-3 weeks, preferably before mid June. If there is already a thread on this, please guide, I did a quick search with the word "deck" but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

I am located in York region - GTA, Ontario

Home depot, Rona does quality work. If u are taking private contractor thn be careful. He wil demand 50% cash advance and run away with ur money. :) whre as u can pay home depot and Rona in 6-12 installments too.

You hav 3 options

1. Go with Rona, HD

2 buy material urself from rona, HD and approach contractor only for labor.

3. Go with contractor.

If you give the complete contract to Rona, HD.. Then u can pay the money in installment. In case of any issue you know where to go. But this will be expensive.

If you give the complete contract to contractor irrespective of how good reference you got.. You have to chase him to get the work done. He ll do it but at his own pace.. Forget about the timeline commitment. They ll have plenty of excuses for not coming to work.
So if you are in no rush.. You can go with contractors.

If you go with option 2, then you can finance on material and get cheap labor but again you have to chase the contractor.

Take quote from multiple people and see what suits you best.
