There is no harm in sharing experiences - the intention was to discourage investment advice blindly and especially 'paid' advice which may be copyrighted.

So, is the market crashing? Looks like another rate cut in the offing cometh October. How's it looking for the housing sector?

As you guys are in GTA, how's the market? Here in Vancouver suburbs, there are very few detached houses listed. The ones that do at a decent neighborhood get sold more than the asking price. I won't call the housing frenzy here. Looks like the things are looking a bit stabilized. Still the prices are floating at $650 upwards.

What I would have posted is Citibank surverys and few other expert advices which would have benefited people on the forum and never harmed u all in any way. They have special survey department which send their reports to investors like us. Anyways... I have decided to post it somewhere else where people would not object to my cut and paste. I don't have time or patience to sit and type it. I don't see any reason to sit and type unnecessarily for what is already there on net. Few things have to change on this site if u have to benefit here.

People have to read and not look for mistakes and loopholes. This is not English test or competition where we have to prove anything to anybody. We are here to help and share our knowledge and ideas. Whenever few people like TK, fido, delhite start hitting in gangs/groups at anything and everything written here, we feel irritated and frustrated as if they wanna rule this site and are trying to throw out people who are sharing their knowledge, reading and ideas. We feel why waste our precious time arguing with these gundas. ;)

Second thing is accept cut and paste if it's informative and you are benefiting from it. Don't think selfishly, think from other's point of view. Not everybody has time to do vast reading and there is so much to read that, even if u read 24/7, still u may miss something that, other benefited frm reading. Thank them to bring it to ur notice instead of lifting ur fingers on the person, as if the person has done some big mistake.

Unless such issues don't change on this site, this site and people on the forum will never appreciate ur efforts or help.

P.S. TK,fido, delhite and few others... please chadi/cane lekar baito math like a teacher. Jiyo aur jine do. :)

I have no doubt on your intentions Hiren bhai. Though you are well aware that people on this forum have grown extremely sensitive on almost all subjects and most of us ( including me) are struggling to draw lines what to post and not to. ( much attributed to approach taken by admins) . Let us at least encourage people to post their personal experiences which i am sure are not copyrighted. I agree copyrighted material ( even thoughts , advises) should either not be or to be pasted on own risk.

:-)

My investment experience

Regular investments in RRSP, company pension plan. . Going low and only notional amount in RESP. ( Good lesson - Always add a lump-sum amount to RRSP in the month of Feb).

No stocks in NA.
Few stocks in BSE (infosys - good returns, lost in few other stocks, selling them out slowly),
good investment in mutual funds, ULIPs in India ( continuous good returns ). Surrendered few ULIPs to reduce headache. brought money to CA for RE investments. Sold all properties from India.

Heavy investment in Canadian RE - detached houses only. Switched primary residence detached house once with a considerable gain, one additional rental detached house in partnership with positive cash flow.
Lost some amount in Condo investment (more than 22k mainly due to commisions), it was first one , builder and VIP agent screw up, sold on loss to cut further loss due to opportunity cost , The proceeds will be soon invested in another rental property in partnership. looking only for one with positive cash flow. No hurry.

Lesson Learnt - Do not invest in condo as there are better venues than condo, in particular, newly built or under construction one as it contains lot of hidden cost. Avoid buying townhouses or semis in case you intend to switch in future.

Market crash ? thats for impatient investors. The impact one should keep in mind is on ones job. Will your skill remain in demand when chips will be down or SHF happens, is point of consideration for you. Invest in self training and keep your start-up idea alive.

Priceless Investments - Very Very good , intelligent , no nonsense, trustworthy and critique friends who keep my head at sensible level all the time (and they drink too !). Persuaded wife to invest in Canadian education ( back to college). No dependency on imaginary things like God or stones or books.
