Hi Adamthorat.
It's rather strange that Indian authorities still continue to affix OCI visa sticker in the foreign passport months after they themselves announced that U-visa sticker is no longer required for travel.
This application that I made to BLS centre is for OCI for my daughter.
I have an OCI myself. My OCI sticker is in my old Canadian passport and I have not transferred my OCI to the new passport as it is not required until the age of 50 and also because I don't want to go thru the hassle as transfer of OCI is treated just like a new application (No logic but who's going to argue with these people).
Two months ago, I visited India and although I was carrying my old passport containing the U-visa sticker, I deliberately presented only my new passport and OCI card (containing old passport details) to the immigration officer. He did not raise any eyebrows nor did he ask me to produce the old passport with U-visa. Same thing while exiting India and I had no issues.
I have to agree with you that there is so much contradictory information all around. BLS website is full of outdated information. Their call centre is useless as they can't communicate properly nor do they have the right information at their disposal. And staff at the BLS centre are rude and abrupt. I couldn't believe it when I saw one BLS staff shouting at a customer.

Hi Clinton,
Between part 1 (submission of application at BLS) and part 2 (collection of original documents from BLS), it took exactly 1 week.
I can't comment on the timeline for processing from here on as I don't know how long it is going to take.

What is your acknowledgement date? You are right that it does say 42 days on the OCI status website.
If you think your OCI won't be ready before your travel date, you should definitely apply for eTV tourist visa. There is no such rule that you can't apply for eTV if you have applied for OCI and awaiting processing. However, eTV is only good for 30 day period and non-extendable in India (unless there is a medical emergency).

Actually, they kept my receipt when I went to pickup originals (Step 2). I noticed that they were retaining everyone's receipt.
I asked them for my receipt back and they said it is for them to keep. These BLS guys are really weird.
Then maybe the printout below, which you have to take with you, they wll stamp something like
" Canadian PP submitted for sticker " or something.
1- PRINT ONLINE STATUS WHICH SAYS OCI HAS BEEN RECIEVED AT CGI.

Has your OCI card reached consulate in Toronto? What is your timeline?
When you get your OCI.
Post your timeline over here in a NEW thread and Step by Step what happened, so people are aware of the recent process & time line
