Every year, we volunteers gv so many hours free to schools. Since last year, schools made it compulsory for volunteers to gv police check which cost us $20. This is the requirement every year and school/agencies should do it for us instead of volunteers paying $20 for the same.
Do u agree to school/TDSB/agencies should do police check and pay $20 for the volunteers?
Is it necessary/mandatory to do
police check of volunteers every year?
Why is police check of volunteers mandatory every year?
Is it a way of making money/bribe by police service?
Should we abolish it aftr one year
or say police chk every 5 yrs?
Coz of this, people hv stopped volunteering and school is sending notices for more volunteers. They are flexible and don't ask for police chk aftr certain period esp for school trips, Pizza lunch etc.

Volunteering is a big scam in Canada to get unpaid work done out of well educated & well qualified immigrants 
. 1 Billion dollars of FREE work gets done from them, each & every year. Lot of these gullible immigrants are promised a job after their volunteer hours are completed, BUT no such thing happens. The fat ass & well paid teacher is going on strike & wants to milk the system more & more ! while the poor volunteer is asked to pay to work for free
The poor immigrants think that they will get the dreaded & infamous " Canadian Experience " after all this & will lead to a job, but ALL that happens is this nonsense.
STOP volunteering & these fools will come to their senses ! The cop should be doing this check up for free ! or the school should be paying for it
I don't even think its $ 20 , I think its more like $ 45 or something like that.
I know a girl who was doing some volunteering nonsense for a school a few yrs back. She was asked to get it from the police..it used to be free then, if you got a letter from the school !
Guess what, when she went to the cops, the racist cop accepted it & was very rude & arrogant to her and told her how he has BETTER things to do, but still accepted it. 2 months went by & nothing happened..the cop did nothing. Everytime she went there, they were rude to her & gave her some silly excuse, & ALL this for FREE volunteer work, which she wanted to do !
They just kept it aside, since it was for FREE, so they didn't care.
But when she paid 40 bucks, it was done immediately !!! She was so pissed with the the racist cop, that she only did volunteering in school for a few weeks & quit after that , that was her first & last volunteer job, NEVER AGAIN !
NEVER volunteer in this country ! Volunteer in Africa, if you want, but NOT in this country ! By volunteering you are just helping some highly paid lazy slob, to become even more lazy & you do his work for free , while he sits on his ass & collects money for doing next to nothing.
It's $20 but bank chgs extra $10 for draft and certified chq. But for all inclusive account holder draft/certified chq, no bank charges. I don't know but retired TDSB / govt official are into volunteering work in school/high school/libraries etc due to loneliness at home esp widows Gora. Whn I talk to people about this, thy don't mind paying $20 + bank chgs to get out of their house+ loneliness. I feel sad that, thy don't get enough pension to survive and on top of it, such bribe in the system even to do free voluntary work. Such noble cause to serve children and old people and robbing such people of $20+ bank chgs is greatest sin according to me. Let thm tke police chk frm people who are volunteering in order to get teaching/school job but not frm people like us.
Perhaps some good samaritan will read this post and do something for us.

Would you rather that school allow convicted felon/sex offender/peodophile get in close contact with your kids in school and day care?
And if they allow everyone, they face possibility of being legally responsible for any unpleasant incidence arising out of such acts from parents like you and me.
The fees are charged by the police to do a record check on the candidate and there is a possibility of it being waived if you approach the local MPP through your school principal.
Sometimes it is better for them to feel the loss and come with a solution instead of killing the objective.

We want to live amongst Goras in their country - but are not able to and not wanting to even understand their mindset.
We come from a country where the authorities (govt or private institutions) are all chors. That is what we are comfortable with and that is what we want to see.
Volunteering is done of people's own free will and is their way of giving back to society and building a community. Eg. If a child is lost - thousands of people spend hours searching each km of land. They don't expect to be paid.
Volunteering is also for networking and meeting people and spending some time in meaningful contribution.
It is us immigrants who have given it a bad word. It is in the immigration Center that our own wonderful advisors tell people to volunteer to get "free" work experience. Go to a school and volunteer - you will be considered for a job if there is an opening. Nobody tell them and they do not use their own intelligence to find out that teaching is a qualified job and requires training and background and hiring is done in a set process and manner.
People expect "pehchaan" in school by volunteering will help them get jobs. These housewives go in droves to schools to "volunteer" - with the sole purpose of getting school jobs. And then they crib when there is a vacancy where someone gets a job - but why should you get the job?????
As regards a police clearance - I think this is required - and annual renewal is also mandatory considering proximity to kids and old people. It's a safety issue. Most people (Goras) who volunteer do not mind this cost - since they understand the logic behind it.
To sum up - we Indians/Asians - even bribe God - to get our work done - I will give you chaadar or 1001 or walk to your temple or fast etc. we approach volunteering with the same mindset - wanting free experience and wanting it to eventually magically convert into a job. Please get your definitions right and stop listening to people who give such nonsense advise of volunteering in exchange for jobs.
Don't give a good thing a bad name. Nobody is taking your "millions". Volunteering is Seva - like they do in Gurudwara - or in a natural calamity zone. These Goras make it a part of their daily lives - this Seva. It is part of school curriculum. It is part of their psyche. Volunteering is noble.
Please don't misuse / misunderstand / mislead by ignorance. We need to observe, understand and modify our own mindset - before we blame society.
