As you please HW. Those were straight from my heart. I always found you to be very active and down to earth as well as quite helpful.
Anyhow! May you find peace and eternal happiness, as your ID suggests.
Friends, please post on the topic only.

Live and let live!
Wow, that turned ugly pretty soon. comments edited Happy Friday everyone.
Lets please stay on the topic .
Getting back to the topic , I have been dabbling a little bit into this recently and would like to share and encourage others to share on this from their personal knowledge ....
Also please correct me where needed ... my knowledge may be based on bits and pieces .... and not entirely correct .
There are 3 programs - AP (Advanced Placement) , IBT ( Business & Technology) and IB (International Baccalaureate )
All 3 are geared towards Univ education and perhaps initiate the participants in some Univ level courses taught gradually and controlled at these levels so that learning @ the Univ becomes smoother.
Whereas IBT consists of largely technical subjects , AP may consist of non technical subjects also and perhaps in IBT where you can chose each subject individually and decide to study that only , in AP , you may have to take a complete set , whether or not you intend to use all of them towards University .... ( need to validate this understanding though)
IB or International Baccalaureate is something I have least info on .. can some one kindly elaborate ...
Also is the admission to these 'gifted' programs through a test , teachers recommendation or a combination of both ?
Likewise - if you qualify the test , you can chose to attend a school which may be away from your residing area.... so are these tests school based or common ??

Fido.
Keep one thing in mind when you put your Kids in IB. Most of the universities require high level grade in the IB courses to give IB credit.
If your kids get standard level grade or low level grade in IB then they do not get IB credit and in this case kids will be at disadvantage.
