Hi ,
I am travelling to India . Tickets are costly , Tickets are slightly cheaper If I travel through USA . I am Indian having USA visitor visa and Canadian PR .
I have following questions .

1. How about my luggage ? In USA while I change my flight I have to get scanned my luggage and check in again ? or it is same like other European airport simply transit and your luggage will be transferred ?
2. DO I have to pass through US immigration or simply change the gate as I am transit passenger ?

I heard several stories specially about luggage that we have to collect our luggage and check it again .
Any one who travelled through USA as a transit passenger please share your experience

As far as I can remember:

1. You have to collect bags and check it in again.
2. You have to pass through US customs.

Outbound to India:

You can check in the baggage to your final destination in India. I do however believe you have to clear customs at the first POE. I might be wrong.

Inbound to US:
1. Your first entry point into the US will be where immigration and customs would occur. You have to collect your baggage at this location. There are no transit facilities.

2. If you have a continuing flight, you will have to re-check those bags.

Allow enough time for immigration, customs, baggage collection, re-check in of the bags and boarding.

You will receive boarding passes all the way to your final destination when you start your journey.
