Hi CDs,

'You give fish to someone , you feed him a for a day , but if you teach him fishing , you feed him for a lifetime'

Education is a single have which can make or break a life , not only from a livelihood perspective , but also from being a more aware person. The gift of education can be the most lasting gift and as an investment guarantee the best returns and improve lives as well .

I have been thinking about this for quite some time but some communication regarding Ekal Vidhalya I had with a friend prompted me of raising this.

I am looking for GENUINE schooling or educating initiatives for the underprivileged kids in India where such kids can be groomed and educated at a minimal cost funded by donations.

The mention of donation generally raises a lot of takers who may or may not utilize the funds efficiently - hence the search for some already started ventures where the vision and initiative is already there & have some history to their accreditation.

A friend of mine recently told me about 'Ekal Vidalya' where a single instructor runs a school and then a couple of years back another friend had told me about 'Navo Vidhalya' or something similar as a group of schools running based on donation and to the education of sincere applicants / kids.

The factors are as follows :

a. Already in practice
b. Frugal living and education
c. Committed members .
d. Admittance to sincere pupils .

If you know of any such schools in India , please share.

I will provide a few links and provide some info that I have which is current. But you will have to pursue them further if you want to take it to the next level.
1) https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/10236353/perth-cancer-blogger-dies/

I met this gentleman and I gave him a TEN spot on the train and wished him good luck. It was on a train ride to BORIVLI. But this guy is genuine and worth finding out more.
2) http://www.ndtv.com/mumbai-news/why-this-professor-begs-on-mumbai-trains-507604

I was in touch with this guy and if I am headed that way, I will drop in and meet with him and the school principal who will be free to get in and talk with, if the promoter is away on his rounds.
Here is his letter to me.
3) Dear Sir,
Have taken no umbrage at your questions. Just the underlying tone. But then as I said, if you are prospective stakeholder (donor) you have a right to know and I shall answer any poser you have for me.

The School is running for many years. And in this many years we have come to learn how difficult it is to operate. And then we decided that we will educate the children in spite of any or all stakeholders viz, parents, community, government authorities, donors, and their specific agenda.

This school started as a free school. We gave light nourishment too. And we wanted to educate not just thru text books but by helping the child learn with understanding. That is why we looked at Montessori method of teaching. But in due course of time we realized that the parents were pulling out the wards after the initial pre-KG years because they could not understand what we were trying to do. It did not happen in any schools they knew. And they all equated No fees with Worthless. So it took a few years to realize that the parents will value the education only if it “confirms” to certain basic understanding. So it had to be. And fees became a necessity.

This is just a single hurdle. There are many such stories. And hence the resolution to operate in spite of stakeholders. If parents need certain things to send their children to school we see how to satisfy their fancy. If donors want to see certain structures and methodology, we look to solving it too (like a website, professional email id etc..). Whatever it takes to get the children to school and give them the opportunity. Frankly they are the ones with the least demands.

As for your school fee structure search, this school is recognized by Matriculation Board in Tamil Nadu and the government has fixed the fees. You can verify this on web.

You are most welcome to visit the school anytime. It would be a pleasure. Even a visit and a talk to the teachers, children would do a lot of good. Nothing is inconsequential. And money is not the only avenue to partake.

Warmest regards
VS Prasanna
I will provide his location when I hit it in my mail system.

1) I was doing some studies on Dow theory and Eliott Wave and I ran into this Developer, a brilliant man. But he ran into health problems and passed away. His research went down the tube. They swindled everyone. Thank Heavens, I was lucky that I was waiting it out.

He started an Orphanage in Andhra Pradesh and it is still running. But I do not know how they support themselves. The DONATIONS from Canada were never tax deductible, So I stopped after the first $1000/

2) The second guy Sandeep Desai, who I investigated and found to be a genuine guy, is trying his best to keep the institution afloat and merits some help. I tried to contact him, but he must be on his runs once more.

3) I tried to send some local Canadian curriculum and a few books to follow, it was sent through the local group here that I keep in touch with. But the shipment went astray and never heard from the shipper or the receiver also. There ends that story.

There are Hundreds there in India that merit tonnes of help. But the Canadian Tax system does not provide any break or relief to us here and so, I gave up the good work. That try was a long time ago.

Now I am dormant. Will think about it some time when I get back into a mood.

Take care.

FH.
