Heya Ppl,
We are quite new here from India. Could anyone help me out with some names of family doctors accepting new patients (preferably female doc) in and around Square One area (v r on hurontario near sq one). We do not have a car yet so use public transit for traveling so anyone easily accessible on those lines would be better.
Any suggestions would be of great help!! Thanks.
It will be worth a try and find out from them about accepting new families? Since you say you do not have a private conveyance, I must inform you that to get to a public transport during the winter months with child/ren will become a little difficult and if you have a buggy to drag with you, in a snow fall, and if the streets are not cleaned, crossing SIX lanes at times will take a good few minutes. Some impatient drivers will not be very courteous to pedestrians dragging buggies. (BTDT)
When I was paying thirty rupees an hour for the Internet Cafe, I can understand people cutting short on their time. BUT, I am not used to Pidgin English and could never understand why it became a trend. Since you are using it in writing, I want to know how you got into it?!

Good Luck.

There are many cities in Ontario where there are no family doctors available who are accepting new patients. At least that is not the case with Mississauga. You can refer to http://trilliumhealthpartners.ca/ineed/tofindadoctor/Pages/directory.aspx

The list in RajCanada's Link is not updated, and there is no central place where you can see who all are accepting patients, you need to call each one of them.
You can try RateMDS.com, if you are looking for female only doctor, then you can filter that on the site.
You ll get a list of doctors, sorted in the order of rating. ratings could be real or fake, start calling doctors from this list, you ll find some one.
Tips: You may skip doctors on first 3 pages, I called them few days back, none of them are accepting new patients.
You can see the other posters ideas for getting a family doctor.
In case you donot get one, try this.
There is a highly sucessful walk in clinic at Hurontario and Queensway intersection (Opp. Mississauga Trillium Hospital). You can register anytime and they have family doctors and as well as specialists.
Quality is not that good but the turn around time is quite fast. They work till 11 pm on all days of the week which is a bonus.
Even if you have a family doctor, I would suggest you to use these people to get a second opinion or a different generic brand of medicine that can reduce the cost of the pharmacy.
Only loser is the Govt. of Canad, as your OHIP card will be used a lot more.

Very useful Info ..TK
Honestly, you share useful info that many people living in Canada do not know.
Thanks Gurram.
This info. is around 5 years old. I started using that facility in 2004 (11 years ago) and it has grown by leaps and bounds.
In 2004, the only people that came in were desi's but now all different nationality come there and it is jampacked.
Another information taht I want to share with you is that when a new poster gives me new information or I read something in the Toronto star, it just sticked to my memory and I feel as if I have used that facility. Now that gives me the enthuasm to post that news to any CD that asks for it.
Sometimes I have gone wrong too like getting 25 cents to return the carts at Pearson. It was corrected by SS and is now stuck to my mind.
