My wife and son are planning to travel from Toronto to Mumbai by Air Canada to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and then by Air India direct flight to Mumbai.

Air Canada lands at Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Air India departs from Terminal B. Can anyone please guide how to commute from Terminal A to B. Is it inside the airport or do they need to come out. Time between flights is 2h 5m.

Also can anyone who has travelled by Air India (AI 144) direct flight from EWR to Mumbai share their experiences. Is the flight always on time and how is the service.

Thanks in advance.

Good question. I was looking at answers myself.
Have you tried using Google. May be you can get additional information and then share it with us.

When you start to provide too much information and exacting in details, you expose yourself to the general public. So, I will give you the exact procedure to follow, if the need arises, which your family might need, then please follow them.

As far as I know, they used to get all of the 'IN TRANSIT' Passengers into a room, or they call it the holding cell and keep them all in that location and load them all into their next connecting flight. That way they don't have to do the IMMIGRATION check for them or stamp their passports.

If per chance they let them loose, then your family is free to roam anywhere in the EWR Terminals.

Your Family will get out at the Exiting level (Disembarking passengers go to that level) ARRIVALS LEVEL and clear through the Immigration procedures. In transit Passengers will proceed to their next flight and their respective terminal and gates, but at the Boarding level, or DEPARTURE LEVEL. These are two different decks that they have placed for the travelers convenience.
One is Boarding and the (DEPARTURE)
Other is Exiting Level or Disembarking level. (ARRIVALS)

These are the two things that your family will have to remember.

I will provide here a map of the terminal and also a Video look of the same. (It is too dark in nature)
MAP of. : http://www.panynj.gov/airports/ewr-airport-map.html
The terminals 'A' and 'B' are in the same building and it is a quick walk and will take 10 minutes to the check in gate for the next boarding. There are ample number of seats to sit and while away your available time, so, enjoy the view through the glass or watch the TV screens. BUT do remember the NUMBER OF YOUR CONNECTING FLIGHT And pay heed to the announcements.

LIST OF AIR LINES AND What gates that they normally use. (This could easily change, so use this only as a guidance!!) Please check the same with the airline staff on duty.

PLEASE check and make sure that the BAGGAGE GOES STRAIGHT THROUGH, if not, you will have to clear it first and then re-book them all over again. ASK THE AIRLINE BOOKING AGENT Before you buy the tickets from them.

Hope this makes your flight an enjoyable one.

US immigration and customs is completed in Canada by US agents stationed at the Pearson airport. This has been a standard procedure for years. Therefore, once you board your flight to EWR, it is treated as domestic and you are free to go anywhere.

Unless Air India has dramatically improved their quality of services, they suck. However, for people who might be limited by diet or languages, AI might be a better fit.

I took the same route last month - Toronto - Newark - Delhi and also changed the terminal from A to B. When you come out of the plane at terminal A, at the gate, will find an airport staff for assistance. Ask for directions for terminal B. You need to go to an internal exit door at terminal A where airport bus will be available to take you to terminal B. It will take hardly 5-10 minutes to reach there. At Terminal B, if you don't have Indian passport, need to get your travel document verified (Indian visa/OCI/PIO/eVisa) at the gate prior to boarding.
