I follow the stop instruction , given by by my Haligonian Instructor 7 years ago.

'When stopping , ALWAYS feel the jerk ... if you do not , you did not stop'

Thank you everyone for their inputs. I can't afford legal fee at this time. This incident happened at Eglington ave east off ramp to ferrand dr stop signal post. I think I down the visor due to sun glare and that's why I could not pay the proper attention (all the way stop signal). I am sure it was very slow driving in that ramp. I have 15 days time to request trial option and I am preparing myself to represent the trial and don't know how long it takes to get out of the this ticket . In the worst case I have to pay $ 110 is that correct?

Thanks

Thats correct . Stop sign infraction is awarded with 3 points and 110 $ fine . Try to visit the court while there are other hearing going on . See if its meant for you to stand for yourself . I found it quite intimidating when faced the judge .

It is a slightly long drawn process:
1. You need to visit the processing center to apply for trial - the clerk will take your application and stamp your ticket.

Then you wait 3-4 months for the trial date to arrive in mail with option to discuss with the prosecutor for early resolution - which is just an excuse for you to accept a bargain. You will still be guilty.

If you refuse the bargain by prosecutor, you will be waiting again for trial date 4-6 weeks later. Once you receive the trial date, you request disclosure as discussed on the links above.

Depending upon how your trial proceeds, the disclosure you received and the information available to you to prepare your defence - it may take 2-3 visits to court spread about 4-6 weeks apart.

The entire process is about 1 - 1.5 years long.

By pleading guilty you are liable for the applicable fine, demerit points on your record and increase in insurance (50/50 chance).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

On the contrary I loved it when I faced the Judge even when the Judge discouraged me initially ... But when I brought out one by one prints of cases in my support where when the judgments from the judges had been overturned by superior court Judges , the JoP told the Prosecutor .

' I am staying this case . Have you seen the lengths this man has gone to '

I bet no para legal would have helped me to that extent and for two , like with everything , experience makes you feel more comfortable. ( I don't wish to but am sure AG would feel more comfortable next time around ;) )

The Law actually gives the suspect every possible change to redeem himself if he can .

I think regardless you should fight the ticket. There are initial steps which you can do,

1. Ask for disclosure
2. Find out if the ticket has been filed within 7 days (if not you are free)

Once you do this , it is quite possible the officer does not turn up, the offence is reduced.

Please go through the below link on CD, I have written my story of fighting the speeding ticket

I got the first ticket, that too "Disobey stop sign" one block from my home :-(. Oh boy its about time to get dent to my clean 20years driving record.
Well, i requested for early resolution and was given the date in march.
Recently i ended up booking tickets to india trip and totally forgot about this date.

Now, not sure if they give another date or loose my appeal and get conviction...

Btw, i have decided not to go to trial as i might have done rolling stopped which i generally do when no one is there at the intersection. (ofcourse now lesson learned).
and there is a chance that cops might have the video evidence if not body cameras.

Anways.. please share your experience of postponing the resolution date and under what grounds they do let me...
