Ottawa Nerd

I will share my experience as I will go through the process.
Quick question though, you mention that you call the RCMP/CIC to find out about finger printing...but suppose if you had not called then what? How would one know that CIC want you to have fingerprinting done? I believe we only reply to CIC mails/requests and not to ask them what they want us to do at any certain stage as being proactive.
By the way, by looking at your chronology, it seems that it took longer than most regular cases...dont you think?

Yes Ottawa they took longer. Thats cos of my goof up. It should have begun from Nov. 2002. Instead it began from FEb 2003. Thats 'cos of my mistake of not signing the photographs. Had I not called and found out ? Maybe I would have still been "waiting".

Unfortunately you cannot do that with the CIC office @ Catherine street these days. Thats why I put the caveat "old process". You can only know the status of your application by calling that 1-888 number.

I went to their office on August 14, 2003 to find out abt the status of my application. This was when they actually replied to your status over-the-counter. The lady took some time and eventually came out with a letter for fingerprints. That was easy as the fingerprinting office was just a block away from the CIC office (past the YMCA). The office folks @ CIC were insisting that I send the fingerprints by mail :D

I cajoled the security guard @ the CIC office to drop my fingerprints in their mailbag :D.. Even then it shows that fingerprints recvd. on August 26, 2003. How do I know this ? Well when you come for your oath ceremony, they retun your fingerprints form back to you, along with the RCMP/ CIC stamps. 5 months was the waiting time then. I Dunno how much the waiting time is now.

Asas.. can you elaborate on your question. No one can answer your question unless you give more details. 10 months stay ?....etc. not-clear to me
