I would like to know the views of CD's ,Anydody experienced with discrimination here . Or its more in back home India than here
I don't think you can compare them. Besides, even though your question for the sake of information is completely valid, let me warn you that one (or even a dozen) person's experiences don't make the country racist or bigoted.
For example, I happened to read this in THE HINDU today.
http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/001200406261776.htm?headline=TN~village~bans~Dalit~pets~over~untouchability~issue
Can't believe this is still happening in our homeland, its a crying shame. But will I believe that the whole of India is swarming with bigots like these just because of this one news artcile? No, because I've lived there and there are enough sensible people too who deplore such stuff.
For the record, I do think discrimination exists in Canada as it does in any other country. However I have not experienced it myself ever and if I compare it to expereinces I've had in other countries, I would say Canada is one of the least racist country in the world.

Are you there?

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
Somehow I am of the openion that these are the things one has to consider before migrating like self respect, dignity of labour, employment/business opportunity for those who are ready to go on their own, Flexiblity to change the employment if at all one is stuck with the wrong emplyer/boss and offcourse money but it should me somewhere 3rd or 4th in the list.
Any takers !!!!!!!
It does exist in Canada but not as much as in some other countries. Most of the visible minority groups are stuck with low to medium paying jobs according to a survey conducted by Candadian Business.
Not to mention that more often than not, desis are more qualified comparitively.
If we compare Canada to countries like Australia or parts of Europe, where right wing parties openly bash immigrants then Canada would not be considered so bad. In fact many Canadians know that immigrants contribute heavily to the economy. Every time you go out to buy anything you pay taxes, when you mortgage a home you essentially give banks big business not to mention employment to construction workers etc.. When the baby boomers retire, immigrants are the people who will pay into the social system. Discrimination exists everywhere.including back in India and Pak..Canadians are typically polite but some may discriminate behind your back. We shouldn't complain though. Immigrants should try to assimilate into the mainstream instead of isolating themselves to within their communities. What I love about this place is the government goes out of it's way to help promoting culture, language, assists in finding employment. I believe that Canada ranks up at the top when it comes to Social Services. Immigrants in Canada, probably are way better off than immigrants elsewhere.
There is more discrimination in India than canada and we complain about discrimination here.
In india -
1) untouchables
2)In bihar - Dalit and the upper caste issues - read about Ranveer sena if you do not know about this
3) when we marry as of today we look at caste's till this day and are not comfortable marrying out of caste .
4) North indians- Sounth Indians
In Canada and western countries, there is discrimination but to a very low level , you might not land a job or something but no one would discriminate you openly as in India

We will find a way or we will make one
