Indian Human Resource Ministry came up with a concept where common citizens with specific skills can offer their services to schools and other such organizations. The idea is to utilize the skills available within the society and to enable those who wants to contribute, rather say give back, to the society.

When I was in studying Higher Secondary at my Village's High School, during Diwali Break, it came to my attention that there were two excellent teachers (originally from my village), teaching in some of the best schools in big cities such as Ahmedabad are in the village to vacation. I approached them and requested to teach us (higher secondary students). They gladly accepted the offer, the school facilitated opening the facility and we had great classes (Physics and Chemistry) for two weeks.

The concept is similar. And it is now completely unknown. The universities, medical schools, engineering schools, management schools do have experts providing services as a honorary professors. The only thing is that this concept is extended till primary education.

There might be fear that this can replace the jobs of regular teachers. It will not. This is in addition to the regular teachers.

Thinking differently, a teacher, who in his life has done teaching only may introduce the topic of say trigonometry in a certain way, however an engineer, who has a successful career as a structural designer may introduce the same concept completely differently and thus encouraging more students into engineering.

The government has already have an app and web-site to register and mention what skills you can contribute to, for how many hours etc. Database of such people will be shared with local schools and for a match they can go it.

NRI's can contribute as well.

So as the name suggests - Let's Give Anjali - Give back to the society for giving us a better life.

Yes, retired professionals can contribute more, but even working professionals can also contribute. There are millions of highly educated house-wives (who chose to stay at home and give their kids quality education) in India and they can contribute as well.
