Yepp, thats the right message - 'stay away from it' else you get sucked into it without you know. Once there, You will start to justify it, first to yourself , time and again and then to others. You will call it soothing, soulful, profound, and blissful. You will crave that others join you. Be like you. To an outsider or one from other religion you will look stupid but you will neither know nor will bother because of your beliefs.... and faith. You will do it every day in the morning , at times in the evening, some times 5 times a day thinking that is supreme-st thing to do. You will fold hands, bend, walk bare feet. you will ask your kids to go for it so that they get sucked and then you watch them doing it , feeling proud, feeling better with immense satisfaction. They will not look stupid to you unlike to others from different religions. But not to care because we are us they are them. We belong to better one , they got bad deal though internally you are'nt so sure. but what the heck lets do it anyway , it does no harm , what if it is true then?. better to do it. if not my body, my soul will go to heaven. I 'll see my kids from 'up' there like my whole tree is doing right now , watching me from up there who inturn are being watched from upper layer , so on and so forth and saying to you as you read this post that 'beta yeh sab mat parra karo, iska kya hai likkhta rehta adharmi hai narak main jayega'. you stay course..

Exactly , BS is the word.

I have some clues. Let me try...

1. Pick any religion - the most familiar to you would be better.
2. Read some religious books - not necessarily be a Ph.D. There is a self-help section in your local library or at best, Chapters/Indigo.
3. Buy a good quality gown or robe. Try Amazon, or Google:
https://www.google.ca/search?q=robe&oq=robe&aqs=chrome..69i57.815j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#q=religious+robe&*
4. Try visiting some places of worship and get in contact with the Head Honcho.
5. Contact TV channels for the the 'Religion Hour', start with local ones then you can Graduate to International.
6. Enjoy the fruits (Followers, money, fame, free travel, Mercedez/BMW, and paid for life to eternity...).

It's not that difficult. All you need is the determination.

Oh! Sorry, I forgot. Once you establish yourself, don't forget to spew some bigoted and hateful statements against other Religious outfits that you don't belong to. This is an utmost MUST.

All the very best.

Well, this is a business like any other and should be treated as a service provided. You don’t ask the same to a doctor who also provides a service and ask them to build schools, or help the poor. Going by the same logic, not sure why these so called spiritual leaders are expected to do the same and feel guilty of using the wealth they earn. Nobody is forcing people to go to these leaders and pay them their hard earned money.

I honestly believe people are not fools to simply give away their money. They get something in return, whatever that is and there is a price for everything. It is not that easy to become a spiritual leader also. These guys have some amazing charisma in them and simply making use of their talent to earn money and followers.

As long as these leaders do not influence people to harm others in the name of religion which then becomes a legal issue, I have no issues them earning their money and enjoying as well. If you don’t believe them, then don’t follow, as simple as that.

I share a similar opinion. They wouldn't be rich and powerful without mango people supporting them. Initially I assumed it must be the weak and illetrate who indulge, but I see there are many well settled and educated individuals who follow them even in the western countries. So naturally what ever tonic they are serving should be really appealing.

We do have to understand that there is a difference between being religious and being fanatic. Being religious makes us morally responsible for our actions and it is intended for self satisfaction only. It is when power and greed enter that the fanatism for territory, size of followers and fight for social systems conforming to the religious beliefs start. Extreme interpretation of specific hadeths of religious scriptures are cited out of context to further one's agenda. A prayer is personal, harmless and has soothing effect. It gives us strength to overcome the momentary difficulties we are facing. It's helps in giving strength to our near and dear ones in their difficult times. A sermon/satsang/lecture goes beyond and could be used to influence a larger group. It could be used for greater good or misused for personal gains and agenda.

Before passing judgement let's step back and also look at the platform delivering the news. With the access to wider audience, ownership of media and in turn the content that gets distributed is extremely tinted. Depending on the geographical location and the prevalent media there, the narrative changes from one extreme to another. So if we have very strong emotions in a particular subject, assume we have been owned and the media owner has achieved it's objective.

Peace to all.

Well it takes lot of research to attach a word to something as important as religion ! took me some time but i think that's it.
As pure and pious as BS.

Think media has been the favourite whipping boy for every ill in the society. A lot of times it is politicians playing with basic human emotions ,,, you see that happening in India these days .... the flavour these days is "gau raksha" .... elected representatives are claiming to hang people for it !!!!!
