Seven pilgrims on the Amarnath Yatra were killed today in a terror attack in Anantnag at about 8:30 pm. At least 15 people were injured in one the worst terror strikes in the state of Jammu and Kashmir; they have been moved to hospitals.

Terrorists opened fire on a bus with the pilgrims who were returning after visiting the holy shrine that is located in a narrow gorge at the end of a valley nearly 50 km from Pahalgam. Five of those killed were women, news agency Press Trust of India reported.

The bus that was fired on was registered in Gujarat.

It is really sad indeed. No one can justify killing of innocent people in the name of religion and/or freedom. This is not a fight, this a cowardly act. Only cowards can kill elderly people.

And salute to the driver who saved lives of remaining passengers by keep driving to the safe place.

Just to set the record straight, death of any living being is regrettable irrespective of religion. The perpetrator is a criminal irrespective of the religion.

In my personal opinion this kind of online condemnation achieves nothing except for the perpetrator feeling satisfied with his actions. His/her aim is to cause harm to as many people as possible - physically or emotionally. After each such incidents, more criminals will jump in to pamper and incite further hate and violence. By getting carried away with emotions and indulging in reciprocatory action, you just play into their hands.

There is no restrictions on posting your opinions, the only request is to refrain from personal attacks and post in a respectable language. This applies irrespective of the race/religion/gender/age of the poster

Try to see the bigger picture. What is going on in Kashmir for last decade, had happened in Punjab in eighties. Do you remember what the extremist groups wanted there and what they did to the minorities? The extremist groups started killing the minorities in Punjab so in other part of the country, the non-Sikhs start taking revenge with the Sikhs living outside Punjab. They wanted the country to polarize and all Sikhs should come back to Punjab. They also wanted to all non-Sikhs to leave Punjab. If that happened, they would have made their own independent state.

What is the agenda of the Kashmiri militants? They want to polarize the country on the basis of religion. It is a very sad situation that on the other hand, the right wing party also wants to polarize the country so that they can have the majority on their side for vote bank. By doing so, they are helping out the militants to achieve their goal. This vote bank politics is ruining the country. The development agenda has gone away. People are dying due to hunger and public is getting their dose of adrenaline through fake news, social media posts or from sold out media. The rational thinking is gone. I don’t know what they want that country to be made of like another Hindu version of Pakistan or Nepal. Give me one example of any developed country which is religion based.

Illiteracy is the root cause of all these issues. Politicians and the religious leaders want to keep the majority of public illiterate so that they can follow them blindly. Blind following, no argument, no question asked, suppress who is against you, mob mentality – these are the things which feeds both groups. Rational and scientific thought process is gone to the back benches. Youth has no employment, no money, no prosperity but they are talking about their religious supremacy. The whole country is going to dogs.
