I had the OCI card in lieu of PIO card ..

They only asked the original PIO card towards the end . I uploaded all copies for the other documents which was very convenient ..

My Consulate was SFO

We will find a way or we will make one

Hi ,
Today I went to BLS office to submit my wife's OCI application . They checked all docs which was all good except there was spelling error - place of birth . In her Indian passport the town name mentioned i.e : Borivali Mumbai . While in her Canadian passport it is mentioned as Boriwali IND .
BLS asked me to submit affidavit mentioning that both are same .

I need sample format for this affidavit . Please post it if you have any .

Do I have to go lawyer ( which is expensive ) or commissioner of oath is good ?

You just type the letter yourself. If the lawyer types it for you, they will charge more.

You can take the letter to any Desi lawyer in GTA, and he will just sign it and stamp it for $ 20 . Don't go to GORA's, they will charge you more.

Commissioner of oath will also do. Usually they sit in public libraries on certain days and do it for free.

Take your wife with you. And 2 pieces of Photo ID's with you, both your & Wife's, when you go.

I had to make some other affidavit like that while applying for OCI. I typed the letter myself. Went to a Desi lawyer.

Her secretary took 20 bucks cash from me. She just went in, the female desi lawyer signed it and stamped it and the secretary gave it back to me. I didn't even see the lawyer. I was probably there for less than a minute..LOL.

Then I gave it to BLS and all was fine.

In that AFFIDAVIT you must also have a place and date on which it was written. AND

It is always signed with BLACK INK. NOT BLUE.

Really ? Always Black ?? Stop spreading your misinformation.

Blue ink is preferred in India as its easy to distinguish between the original & photocopy. He is going to BLS & the documents are going to Indian embassy after all.

Not that if he uses black ink it will be the end of the world. But there is NO such rule that it should always be signed with BLACK ink. Either will do, with the preference being BLUE.

Place & date is commonsense when signing most documents. OP will figure it out himself. I just gave him a general guideline.

When the lawyer signs & stamps the affidavit, he puts the date & place anyways.
