Hello,
I am currently completing the CIT0001 form and under section 8, it asks "did this parent leave Canada before 1977". My father obtained his citizenship after 2010, what is the correct way to answer this question? Would it be from his birthday to 1977-12-31?
The same question goes to my other parent, who is not a Canadian citizen, would the answer also be the birthday to 1977-12-31?
Thank you very much for the help!
In the question they are asking and want to know if the PARENT Leave Canada when The calendar year started, which is on the 1st of January 1977.
Since your Father left Canada after 2010, you please state the same, if possible with the proof of his departure on the Specific Date he left. Attach any available document.
I Have provided to you a similar document that I was able to raise from my archives. Please see if it is same or close to the current one. I cannot obtain the new one to attach it here for you.
FH.
Year 1977 seems to be a significant year. More on it when I do some more research on that particular date.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have specified that my father was born in another country (before 1977), he came to Canada in 2004 and became a citizen after 2010. Since he was in another country from birth to 1977, what would the correct answer be?
Section No.8 seems exhaustively long and I can only answer to the best of my ability and knowledge and what it is that they are expecting to hear from you.. and see your answer...
Based upon the one liner that you have given, I can only say that your Father was not in Canada prior to 2004. So, all of the answers might fall in the NO category.
Please read each one in detail and see if all of the answers make any sense after you write them in the proper BOXES.
I am sure one such BOX will have his Citizenship from BIRTH. That will tell them that he was NOT A CANADIAN nor was he in the Armed forces etc., or was in the Employ of a Canadian Corporation also. (But if was or not employed will be only a guessing game for me)
Please fill in to the best of your ability and knowledge what it actually is. That should do.
I now know the situation you are in after i got the form below. You have to confirm if the current form is the same. I can generate it but I am unable to copy or paste the same here. It is a web based one.
Hope this helps.
FH.
