hello friends
first i would like to thank you for making this site a great information centre for new immigrants and afcourse the desi living in canada.....

only few days back i fill up my immigration papers and hope to land there in 2-3 years. well i have read many topics here relating to new immigrants and all....
and i have found that its really hard to get a job in canadian market so what i come up with is alternative to find a good job.
firstly let me intoduce u with me and family
we are settled in chandigarh (punjab)
my resume:-
i am b-tech in electrical enginnering (but with ver low marks)
1 yr advance diploma in hardware & networking enginnering
1 yr experience uitll now
my wife resume:-
she is b-tech in electronic enginnering
2 yr work experience

so without waisting any time further lets come to point:-
ques 1 : does marks in study count there very much to secure a job in ur field? or it is ur knowledge bout ur field?
ques 2: my wife has secure very good marks this yr in CAT (entance exam for mba in india) and she may get admission in IIMS or PU (CHD).......Is the mba done from these institutes here will help her secure a good job in canada? or she need to study even after coming there.
ques 3: if i want to continue with my studies and want to do m-tech computer from univ in canada after coming there can i do it.......will that help me find a job in my field.
ques 4: we both have also upto level 4 in french from alliance chandigarh? will it be helpfull for finding a job?

if you guys can just answer these questions i shall be heartly thankfull to u cauz it will help us alot in developing a better future in canada.

IIM stands for I am an Imminent Millionaire --went the usp of IIM B once.

An IIT or an IIM credentials can secure u a lucrative job Internationally from the US to the Far East but cannot guarantee u a Residense / Citizenship .

As of 2day an IIM grad would be in demand in US / UK / Middle East /Far East and of course India --- even in India the average sal of 4yrs + IIM grad wud b 12 lakhs . By that status u may not be guaranteed a job in Canada coz ironically unlike the US Canadian Employers prefer Canadian Qualifications . Agreed even in the US they prefer home qualifications but they acknowlege foreign credentieals as well.

Personally , I feel an IIM Grad shdnt move 2 Canada w/o a confirmed employment.Plus it will b easier and more beneficial 2 try 4 openings in the US .

i agreed with you dear but its hard even for a couple from india to enter usa and apply for citizenship now days and we have allready applied for the canadian citizenship so we are only looking forward for canda.

now you must be wondering why we prefer canada over india as we can settle in india very easily so the reason is that as my family background is from freedom fighters, that have fought for a good nation to come up, army, in which todays the political system and corruption can be looked into very easily and i know the problems my father has to face after retiring from army and settling in chandigarh. no one now days respect these people the political system is becoming so corrupted that every one is concern just bout there bank balances.

i remember the incident when my grand fighter took a bus from chandigarh to his village and when conductor ask for ticket he replied "i am freedom fighter and here is my pass" (bus travel are free for some distance in india for freedom fighters) and i was shock when that conductor replied " don't know when u guys (frredom fighter) are going to die" after this incidence my grand father become so week from his health that he died within an year. and incidence was as scar in my memory that does they people were fighting for these fellow generations. is this INDIA a dream of BHAGAT SINGH, PANDITJI, SUBHAS CHANDE BOSH...............
we still need freedom from this system.
for a ration card the fees is 400 rs but u need to pay 1600 rs to the people sitting in this ofice its just an example from many. otherwise u are out.
so thats why we have choosen to serve the nation atleast who are giving you something in return of ur services.
i and my whole family even my dad now don't want our next generations to grow here atleast there is a dream that after 2- generations they will be living happily in canada after our strugle.

If you go through some of the posts here, you will realise the frustrations of recent immigrants who have to face the daily obstacle of Canadian experience and Canadian qualifications.

One important difference between Canada and other countries (US) is the attitude and outlook of companies. Very few Canadian companies operate on an international scale. Due to the inward and risk averse outlook, Canadian employers are reluctant to hire people with overseas experience or qualifications.

If you are keen to come to Canada, be prepared to struggle and re-educate yourself. Everyone is ready to give you free advice and in the end, it is your decision. However, it is necessary to note that it is Asia that is growing rapidly and not Canada. In fact, job growth in Canada is fairly flat and likely to stay that way for some time. I recommend that you do your research and weigh the pros and cons carefully.

Any decision can work in your favour as long as you are hardworking, persistent, determined and lucky! (just so that I don't start a debate, lucky could imply being at the right place at the right time).
