Sorry guys,

It was totally frustating for someone who addicted to this site to see a message like "This site is down...". This never happened to CanadianDesi for long tiime.



It was Biomed who pointed out this first on Sunday Morning, but it was down since Saturday evening. He did noticed that, but thought it could be a local problem and so waited for next morning. Chandresh and Blue Lobster were next followed by others.

What I was doing at that time? Usually during weekends I don't prefer to sit in front of computer. You can say I have beed fed-up seeing computer monitor and keyboard since last 15 years! So I haven't checked the site since Friday evening (I checked it from my workplace only!) . So friends, if it happens again, please let me know immediately, but not using email

What was the cause? Those hosting server changed the software for PHP, and that messed up passwords for all database user. Now how that happened I don't know and they also don't know. Any PHP, MySQL wizard can help. Surya can you?

Anyway the site is up now and It should be up forever.

Hello Friends,

Yeah it was indeed a tough time stayingaway from the board of CanadianDesi during last two days.

Though I do not contrinute much to the site but even then the addiction is like that I cannot resisit visiting the site every odd hour.

I had also observed the technical failure of the site on Saturday evening itself but then thought Garvo must be busy in providing Life Support Services. Hence did not call up 911 ( Garvos' contact number). Thanks Biomed for your promptness.

Anyhow its great to see the site back in action.

Thanks Garvo Bhai for assisting and giving me the idea over the phone about extracting the Picnic Details. And also to Biomed for calling all the way from Chatham.

Looking forward to meet most of the CDs on July 17.

Vikas Gupta contacted me during down time and he wanted the material we have on site for the picnic. He wanted to give that to the newspapers - Road Show and Mid Week. He asked me to send that material as the site was down.

For a second I thought it is not possible as the content is in the database and I had issues with database, than immediately I suggested him to search on google and use "cached" home page of canadiandesi and it worked!

During down time I also noticed number of hits from search engines. In the normal time it is difficult to distinguish them clearly, but when the site is down all the hits must be from search engines. And it was great. As we have now very rich content on the site, it has to be.
