I have stayed in Canada for almost 4 years, applied for my citizenship, and i have past the one year time limit and have not received a response from CIC as yet, not a single response other than that we have recieved your papers. Whenever i call, they seem to say its in process

Now I am in the Middle east, i have taken up a job. I wanted to ask:

a) Is it normal for them to have not responded or is there a possibility that my file is lost?

b)If tommorow I am called by the judge for a hearing to prove permanent residence, I have everything to show that i was there for the required time (more than 3 years), but now that i have a job in Middle east would that weaken my case?

c) Can a person apply for citizenship and move to another country and still be entitled to citizenship or is it up to the discretion of the judges again?

I am quite disturbed as you may have noticed and want to do everything in the right and correct manner. This issue has been worrying me and i would be obliged if you could provide for an answer.

a) I'm sure you have a file number. Keep pestering them. One year and no test is NOT normal.

b) your present situation has no bearing as long as u met the requirements earlier.

c) u can apply and leave.

I gave the test with the application through this place in Missisauga, so technically my test has been given....is one year still abnormal for not hearing anything....?

Also can u tell me how to contact CIC by phone sitting here in the middle east. I tried getting the calling card from canada but that doesnt work, is there any other way?

One year is odd unless they are doing background checks that can take longer. You cannot call CIC from outside Canada. You can only use the e-client on the internet.
