I am sure that you are aware that Indian Medical degrees dont work in Canada , you would need to re-qualify through exams conducted in Canada

Dear Mr.Ashish.
Thanks for the reply.
I graduated from Calicut Medical College(Calicut university)-Kerala and experience of 15 years as general practitioner.I was of the impression that they are recognized in Canada. Is it not possible to get even junior residency in some hospital(not private practice) with Indian degree. If not are the exams as tough as UK's PLAB and USA's USMLE or is it possible to pass the exam with relative ease after coming there?.

Medicine degrees... Latief Bhai, you are better off as a Medical practicioner in India (or the USA) and not in Canada. Please follow what ashish30 has stated. Your degrees are not recognized and you have to take "competency exams" which may take years and that does not guarantee you "residency" programs. There was a program on CBC television abt how a doctor, from Bombay, gave up his career for the cliched statement of i-want-to-give-my-children-a-better-life and immigrated to Canada. He finished all his requirements and yet wasnt allowed into the Alberta residency programs. Age ? maybe ? Discrimination ? I Dunno...
Frustrated he gave up and is now contemplating moving to California / USA..
So if you intend on coming here to practice medicine, please think twice, thrice and then choose the USA. The USMLE is tough but it also pays high dividends.
SOrry for dampening your hopes, but these are stark facts
Dr. Lathief
Please check this small tit-bit of information I could gather off-hand

Glad you understand the scenario
I have one of my friends Uncle who was a famous docter (dentist) in Chandigarh making huge money with grown up daughters
He landed in Canada without much knowledge and now he is working as a Insurance agent, he tried hard to get through the clearance exams and couldnt probably cuz of age /stress dont know...
So Pls think 10 times before making such a huge career decision
I would suggest best option is to prepare for such exams , and then apply for Imm move.

Ashish, one question..
Why cant ur friends uncle move back to India ?
Is it because of the "logon ko kya muh dikhaoonga" scenario ? , mentioned so eloquently by Teja Bhai in a previous thread ?
