Hi Blulobster,
What is the value of CCNA(Cisco certified Network Associate), no experience?I also have certification of MCP, Cleared 3+3 papers of Win. NT and Win 2000,
No technical experience on the above qualifications, my field is sales and Marketing, administration, can I land in to marketing of technical products on this qualification?

Are you currently doing sales/marketing of the same? I think an employer would require relevant experience to be able to hire you for this. If you do have this experience, you can certainly try for these jobs, hard to say how easy or difficult it will be to actually land one.

You're probably aware though that for selling products related to these certifications, basic technical knowledge is a must. i.e. if you're selling routers to a company, you must be able to tell the network admin. in technical terms what the cost-benefit will be.

BL,

How much do time do you think I need to devote (in months hopefully) do get myself certified in the above?

Should I go in for courses from say Learning Tree or other institues as a preparation?

Thanks

Really depends on your technical background and how much time per week you can devote to this. I'd say about 3/4 mos. should be enough if you're studying while doing a full-time job (assuming you already have a strong programming background)

.NET is quite different in architecture from 6.0, so there are some basics to grasp before you go after the languages.

I would not recommend paying high course fees unless you feel its a must. If you have a programming background, it is much cheaper to use some books and the internet to prepare. There are just so many free resources available these days if you're motivated enough.

IT guys beware.....

Canada is not USA where IT skill sets are easily accepted.

I have known many friends...certified in Microsft, Cisco, NT, IBM Mainframe etc and have excellent experience.

While apllied for jobs in Canada...they asked from where did you get these certifications? His reply was Dubai. The gentleman raised his eyebrows in doubt as if the certificates are fake........

Employers in Canada do not know that Microsoft and most other IT exams are now online..hence the country of apprearing the exams doesn;t matter.......

The poor chap...my friend had to reappear and recertify again in Canada...that too online.....DOES IT MAKE ANY SENSE????????? Or it is some sort od discrimination???

Deepcb,

I know what you are saying.

Last year in order to gain some new skills.

I chose India (Banagalore) to do my Oracle Financials Course. Now this was quite an intensive course. Lasted for 4 weeks , 8 hours a day. This is also the exact same course that is taught anywhere in the world (including Canada;) )

I chose it because it was considerably cheaper.

When I came back I started applying and was very hopeful that I would land something. Well, one year has gone by , nothing.

I also chose ORacle Financials over Data Warehousing course I was planning to do in Toronto from COGNOS.

Seemes like I made another bad choice.

The other question for BL and others.

How important is learning VISUAL STUDIO fr learning anything by MS thesedays. Seems like it the integrated Environment of choice for MS related programming (C#, VB, Visual C++ etc...).

Should I learn that simultaneously along with C#?

Thanks

Hi Mercury6,

There is good market for people of Oracle Financial and SAP (ERPs) but they need experience of at least 1 implementaion cycle. If you are functional person with ERPs stuff then you must contiune your try in current marekt. Please visit http://www.csican.com." rel="nofollow">LINK

If you want to add more technical stuff with your current profile then do Oracle DBA and Oracle 9iAS but its purely technical things. Future is also very bright for these. Need certification from oracle for make your case stronger.

Regards,
