Hi Mercury6

Hi Ottawa_Nerd

Hi Wisernow

And all Senior Desis,

Could you tell me if it will OK to do specialist technical Course (for a Non technical Guy) for a short time say about 8~9 months...get certified...(After Landing in Canada and thru a Certified Canadian Institute) viz. Plumbing, Carpentry..etc

Will it help...to hold the ground initially....for our survival....later on it can be converted in to the major Career if the out come is good.....

Please Advise.....

Maverick

Maverick,
Tu fickle-minded chee :D

Come on yaar, make up your mind... aakhir tu karna kya chahta hai .. Plumbing, carpentry are trade jobs. Nothing technical abt it (unless you actually want to design your objects).
There are "trade schools" (what you know as ITI's in India) in Canada. You can take certification from there. Will it help ? I dont know. It all depends on the job market. But as others have stated, the job market for these will play a role !

Dear Ottawa_Nerd Bhai,

It is not the matter of being "Fickle Minded Thing"....Actually, after having realised the fact thru this Great Site..we all know the ground realities...of what will be the beginning....so the sooner we (Potential Immigrants) learn it the better it is....

I asked you that becos I had a feeling ( as been posted by many CD fellows as well) that to start the life initially...it is very difficult to get a reasonably OK (Not Very Good) Job in your own field....but parallely, the life has to go on....so why don't we get prepared ouselves with the hard realities and carve our ways out to become a successful person there as well....And for that if the requirement is, to go under these "Petty Jobs But Good Income" ....I personally do not have any regrets of doing it...as it would be not our Goal but a Way to reach our Goal and remain Happy...

( Here let me say that Plumber is one of the many available Jobs seen in the websites and also stands a good rating in NOC Classification)

I believe that if we Know that have to do / follow / learn a procedure (Like we all to have to drive in 1st gear and reach to the Top gear) ....then After having taken a decision of moving to Canada should not left with a Negative feel that ...."we did a mistake" ?... I am saying it becos I am Not a Pessimistic Person....:D and would like to Adapt things fast to move forward....

Agar Rastey mein Kaantey Bichhe Hain...Phir Bhi ....Hum Ko toh Unko Paar Karna Hai...Aur Apni Manzil Tak Jaana Hai....Par Kaantey toh Chubhegey Hi....Lekin Iraada Pakka Rahega....

Apney Badey Bhai (All CD's) toh hain hi Hamey Raasta Dikhaney Key Liye...:p
Maverick

Courses toh le sakte ho Bhai,
pan,
8-9 mahine mein ? I dont know abt that. Where will you be landing ? In Ottawa we have technical colleges like Algonquin college that specialize in these things. In Calgary it would be SAIT (Southern alberta institute of technology)...and others...

But what are your previous qualifications ? Course karne ke liye you will need some time, and paisa also !.. I would suggest you do some research on available courses before deciding on what you wish to do. A couple of months ago I saw a TV news segment in Ottawa. It showed that welders were in great demand !

But I do not know the Rating of this college...and Acceptability..Could you give me some links of finding right colleges...(I will also search from my side)

Btw, I am an Sales Manager , posses PGDBM (MBA) and B.Com have 12 years of work exp. Aged 34 , Married . No Kids..

I am planning to have a Dual Strategy...so that either of it may work...
1. I will try and get a job in marketing related areas (like Telemarketing..Inside Sales etc.) if not be able to get ,

then will take a Part Time Job and do this course along with...for finance...I will have to make pre-arrangements from India only..as I am currently in India...

Maverick, you can start off with some sales related jobs in superstores like Walmart, Futureshop, BestBuy etc. While doing that you can upgrade your professional skills...(padhai and kamai). After your padhai you can decide what to do !

I am not in sales. I am in R&D. As such my advise will be useless. There are other CDs in this forum who can help you...and I request them to help you :)
