Hello Experts,

Currently I am on the work permit in Canada and going to apply for study permit extension probably for 1 and half year . I want to know few things as below:

1) How much funds (in CDN $) do i have to show in my bank a/c?

2) How long do i have to maintain the balance in my account?

3) Also as mentioned earlier i will be applying for 18 months study permit extension and my passport expires after 20 month. So does it affect my application from rejection point of view?

Hiiii!!!

here are you answers...

1) approximately 10 K should be OK and you can mention that you are getting money from your parents back home ( you don't need to show proof for that )

2) you don't need maintain balance (you are out of India, my friend ...just bank statement should be Ok ( so you know ..what you need to do )

3) I think you should be OK as its taking around 1.5 months to get extention so , you should be fine ... but just to let you know they can't extend your study permit longer than your passport

Also to let you know, I know this poster personally and I know his situation more than anyone else here because I’ve been through this situation and he sent me a thank you note by PM even before you replied to my post.

Next thing I’d like to tell you is that BlueLobster never warned me personally. I do remember his post in regards to posting in Massood’s section and I do respect that.

However, nowadays a lot of people post directly to Massood’s section, even if it’s nothing related to that section. I remember some of my CD members were complaining that some people come here to get help and then go away, do you want more people like them?

Thanks Sukh. I know about this posting since I participated on this. I have done my bit of research on the rules surrounding this but it did not turn up anything substantial. From what I can understand there is a difference between appealing against a rejection under sponsoring permanent visa versus a temporary resident visa. The appeal process for permanent visa rejections isclear. But, the same is not true for visit visa rejections.

Then I realised that I need to retain the services of a lawyer - not a 'pro bono' as on this forum but pay for it. I was about to send a personal note to Massood asking for his help but decided in the larger interests of CD community to make it public - look at the way the question has been drafted.

Anyways that's the background. Following BL's note, really appreciate if you can leave this section for Massood to answer. In that way, you can see the wood from the trees (or is it the other round )

I guess I am not the only one in "requesting" you to with this thing. BL's advise was for everyone. If you have not got it, then it means that he has not yet noticed it and/or overlooked it. Your input's are indeed welcome. Ppl like you make this forum work. If you want to contribute, BL has indeed given you the option of posting in other relevant sections of the forum.

I know you all mean well. Let's not get side-tracked and create issues. Let's all help.

I really appreciate all you guys' help. Most of you are on the point when answering. I don't want to make this a 'Massood's kingdom' issue. Far from it. I value every minute that I save on this site.

Whenever someone is wrong, I don't beat around the bush. I say so, without intending to offend anyone.

So, relax everyone and let's just keep spammers like 'intransit' out. the rest f you, chill!

One word of caution: When posting in the expert section, please make sure you know what you are talking about. Not because I want to 'protect' my domain, but because thousands of people read and rely on the advice offerred here. So, bear that in mind.

Massood Ji, No one is fighting here. You are the QUALIFIED expert. you HAVE the knowledge and know the situations ... You can take your own time but the answer you give is 99.99% to be TRUE ! This does not imply that others are giving false information

A rule, is a rule ! While opinions are welcome, and more so as this is a voluntary effort, the moderators have clearly designated other areas on this forum for follow up's. For example, my friend ( ) Sukh could have posted his valueable comments on the "Independent Category" section of this forum.

Adherence of the rule by BL should be made not only in the letter, but also in the spirit !
