Hello buddies,

When Immigration Canada changed its law regarding the new immigration criteria - there was lot of hype regarding the tightness of the new systems. However at that time the cry was from immigration lawers who were worried about their exisiting clients.

Now I got a chance to look at exact point calculation.

And this is break-up of points
Age: 10
Education: 25
Language: 20
Work Experience: 25
Arranged Employment: 10
Adapatability: 10

And the total is 100 points.

To quality one has to get 80 points (for new applications). For exisiting applications they have to get 75 points.

Now consider the case of a civil engineer with say 6 years of experience, 30 years of age, without relatives and without job offer in Canada

How much point he will get?
Age: 10
Education: 20 (may be 25, but not so sure, as one has to have 17 years of full time schooling to get 25 points, people with masters degree can get that much points)
Language: 15 (16 max points for English and four for French, so even to get 15 is difficult, but consider it)
Work Experience: 25
Adpatability: 4 (considering he is married and his wife is graduate)
so the total points are:
10+20+15+25+4=74.

This really means without arrange employment or without any relative in Canada he is not elibigle to come here!!!

Yes, if he gets 25 points for education, then his points are 79 and he may be qualified - but for that he must have masters degree! If his wife has also master's degree than she can get 5 points and then the total points are perfect 80.

This is really very tight and I don't thing majority of the people can be qualified for it.

Really tough man!!! People should consider Australia/New Zealand and England in stead of Canada now.

I am very happy to see the canadiandesi web site and get more information for immigration. But as per my opinion that this laws may be changed in next couple of months. As per present situation nothing to worry to come at Canada. Because of that here peoples are struggling and work hard instead of our country. I hope that laws may be change in future and our country people can be come here and to take the chance for geting more money.

I agree with you. When the people here are not getting proper job, what is the point of getting more and more immigrants. I think if the same laws remains for another year or two then the people here will be in a better position.

Seems to be little selfish, but I need we need to control the large inflow of qualified people here.

The point is well taken, but what about 100000 people leaving Canada every year to settle in US? How can Canada fill in this big gap without immigrants?
