Iam an Industrial Designer by qualification from the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DESIGN,AHMEDABAD which is recognized both Nationally and Internationally for its standard of design education.
Athough I see a lot of messages posted by engineers,I have not yet come across anything from the design profession.

I wanted to know if my qualificaion would be recognized in Canada although I have work to back it up.
I have written a mail to the BCID,British Colombia Industrial Designers Body, I have not got any reply from them.

I was hoping someone could help me out inthis respect.

I am from Ahmedabad and came to NID campus few times. I am an engineer myselft and was about to teach AutoCAD there, but it didn't materialize.

In Toronto I don't know anybody working this this field, but there should be some demand. Yours is very special field and you won't see many wandering here and there with that qualification.

But be aware, Canada is different country - they even don't know what is IIM or IIS or IIT! So chances of knowing NID would be very less.

My thaughts only - you should check with all resouces available. Hope we have any member from your background already in Toronto!

Well, I know a canadian born German guy who designs Cars for GM. But he has studied here and in US.
At times, desis manage to obtain the certi saying that their indian degree is equivalent to canadian. There's lot of fees involved. But in the job market, the local guys are usually preferred over immigrants without any local experience. Some desis luck out!!
So we should always keep high hopes.

Dear Karan,

Here there are chances of good job for you.
Main thing is how you represent your self for better job.
yoour resume shall be in such a way that you can market youself in canadian words.

So try to find out in canadian words how your proffession will be called.

I think is it a stream of product design?
then you should use the word product design, even many words you have to change in your resume and then you should try.

Emplyers here want more people skills like excellent communication skills, teamplayer, honest, and many.

First you should target your resume , if you will write in such a way that employers like it then you will be selected, for that you have to check your resume like you are a employer.

If you are selected then you will be called for interview.
Interview are very tough here, not for quetions but for selection.

Many people are hiring here on good resume.

with regards,
Piyush
