I am getting bored of seeing the same thing everyday. Infact I have been noticing that nowadays most of the queries go unanswered. This is a sure sign of apathy and is not good for the website and cd members.

Could we have better topics, a better layout, and better issues to discuss than these run of the mill tales/ tales of woes which surely are coming up in substantial numbers but do not seem to do any good.

I am not averse to listening or reading them, but the stories and issues have been repeated over and over so many times, it reminds me of those hindi movies which have the same theme. (Two brothers, separated at birth and meet later on, unite and vanquish the bad man.) Remember the audience knew what to expect when they went to watch a movie like that.

I think it is high time we moved over to the next level/ platform where in we use our time' more constructively' and have ourselves better issues to address.

Lets change the way we are doing things and reposition our website.

What are your suggestions? Does anyone have any better idea or opinion / recommendation to make?

I am attaching a poll for you to help decide.

Sudhish,

I agree we need to make at least some changes.

Since you started the topic, what are your suggestions for this?

Hi BL,

Sudhish has a valid point. I have a suggestion which can be further refined by other desis.

We do have a large knowledge bank on this website but most of it is so diffused that new desis might be finding it difficult or time-consuming to sift through it to find the answer they are looking for.

Some broad categories should be identified and each category should have FAQs. If a member wants further clarification on any of the answers then he can post his question on the discussion board.

It is, of course, recognized that everything cannot be categorized but by following this approach many of the repetitions can be avoided.

I think we should leave discussions of post landing trauma and some other related topics ( which have been discussed over and over again with no end result) to a different page/ location - far far away.

It may not be liked by some, they may say we are trying to put a veil on the issue but that is not true. I think that this subject has been discussed enough and there have been a plethora of pros and cons and experiences which are no different that they have to be written all over again unless someone has all the time on earth and also if one needs to improve his typing skills.

Let us give all the pages a cleaner look and have a neat home page (Not so much of clutter on the home page.)

Let this not be like one of the message boards.

These are my views and I thought of penning them down. We have to move our website from an ordinary league to a not - so- ordinary league.

What do you say? Suggestions?? Recommendations - senior, Junior and not so daily CDS?

Hmmm...No. I don't think we should move the posts, or the section, of those that contain sad or sordid stories far away. That is reality and hiding it will be wrong. If you plan to retain only the posts of successful stories and happy endings on the front page, then pulling away the sad and failed ones and putting them elsewhere will be an unethical maneuver.

I think that this subject has been discussed enough ...snip

Whether a subject has been discussed enough or not depends on the people discussing it. Simple logic dictates that when they feel that it has been discussed enough they will stop discussing it themselves. Why should someone not participating in a discussion want to stop that discussion. Not interested - do not participate!

i second teja's faq idea.. specially for the immigration section, and maybe also for citizenship... it should not be hard to identify which ones get asked the most... "how much longer"; "land, return the next day, what about pr card" and "citizenship/fingerprints" come to mind... could even be something as simple as consolidating all these questions into one post and making it a stickey...
