Hi all,
Just want some suggestions. I studied Marketing and currently working in my field. Now I am planning going to study international business.
Any suggestions for how can I come up with some cover letter for study permit explaining and linking my previous studies experience with International Business and why I want to study that.
I will really appreciate for any suggestions.
Hi,
I don't know why you need a covering letter for applying for study permit.
I have a similar profile as yours; with a marketing backgroud in India, I am studying International Business here and I never used a covering letter during application.
My advice; don't provide too much information, unless you are asked for it. Instead of thinking about the letter, you should be thinking about the answer that you will give the visa officer if asked the same question in interview.
Best of luck.
Manish.

Hi Manish,
Thanks!!
Imm. dept always ask why you want to work or study, meaning they ask to explain the situation. What I think is, it should be always good to have cover letter so the imm. officer know within 1 page what I am looking for and what's the main reason behind it. Now it's upto them what they wanna think and what their decision is.
Another thing is your location say you are in vancouver, so i assume you are aware of the rules to extent your stay within Canada. In most cases you don't get interview. Everything is assessed on your paper work only. So in this case doesn't cover letter help my application. And in the cover letter you don't provide too much information. It's is just same what you have filled in your application, but present in little different way.
n.e. suggestions?
Hi Indianguy,
I think Manish is not wrong in his assessment of the situation. I have worked with a lot of intl students and helped them with their application process in India for study permits.
In your case-
if you are going for an interview I suggest do not worry about the cover letter. You will be there to answer questions.
- If you are mailing your application- It is a good idea to have a cover letter. The cover letter can link your marketing skills with the field of Intl business but that should not be your primary concern. Marketing is a business studies course and so is Intl business -you are just specializing.
What you need to pay attention is to explaining how this will help you in finding a Job in your home country-prove ties to homeland.
India is facing a growth in intl business. A lot of MNC's have set up offices and your skills will be in high demand. You need to be future orientated in your cover letter.

Hi Neha,
Thanks you for your kind suggestions and I think you are right on your way.
I am not sure, but when I was in need to have suggestions for cover letter no one replied me. Later I came up with the letter, myself, and sent the application to them. Currently I am waiting for their decision. I hope for the best.
In the letter I had included the information what's my current status in Canada and my current responsibilities at my work place.
Than I included, by working in Canada I realized to expand my career in Int. Buss. Mgmt and by learning this program I will be exposed to this, that and this courses which I was not fully exposed to during my previous studies.
Also I mentioned why did I selected particular college/univ. to go with and studying this prog. at college/univ. will help me to achieve my goal whenever I'll return back to India as it open more doors of opportunities to me.
Finally thanking them for their time and letting them know that if they have any questions they can contact me.
How does this cover letter sounds to you? Did I hit the nail at the right place?
I thank you for your time also.
Exactly what was needed. I think you got it right.

Hey Neha, you told that you have worked with a lot of intl students and helped them with their application process in India for their study permits. Do you run your business to send students to foreign country or was working in similar kind of field?
Are you currently in Canda? To me it seems you are on study permit/visa? Correct me if I am wrong?
