Same as Canada i stayed there for 10 years.

Good money depressing place. Indian package milega then you live like beggars. Agar Canadian passport hai aur expat package milega to raja key jaisa rahega. bangla, gadi, etc.........

Windsorguy:
The jobs are contractual but the contracts r renewed in 8/10 cases. Job security is 8/10 again .Banks (QNB / HSBC ) are high paying Employers and cud offer u QAR 10k plus pm on an average .

U can make lifetime of money in Qatar for 5years time .Rightly pointed by Cheryl - worlds 3rd highest per capita income & toughest Indian visas in the Gulf.

However not meant for final settlement .Pandu Havaldar has summed it up .

Crenshaw :
A mid size sedan wud b a Corolla or a Suuny (most popular here ) and the Insurance cost I ve told is Comprehensive.

BTW how did u assume "lady" 4m Bahrain . U wudnt know if I didnt tell u .Whats there in a name ??
:p

Your statement is not correct.
If you are an indian and have been in GCC country and have residence Visa more than 6 months, you will get Visit Visa for 30 days on arrival by paying AED 100 or around CD 50.

Guys lets not pass incorrect info, if we dont know ....

All middle east countries have access Indians and mostly in labour jobs. All Middle East countries first hire locals. Since we all know locals are not well educated/experienced, they take people from other countries.
Now days Americans/British are a lot in middle east so next preference goes to them but they are expensive.

Then local employers look for other Arabs & generally Lebanese are front runners in service jobs / Egyptions for Labour etc. After this next selection comes to other asians where Indians are front runners.

You have to remember Indians are respected in Middle East and are known for hard work. Also lot of GCC employers/locals have roots from India i.e. somewhere in their family tree they would have had an Indian Wife etc ( old days upto 1940s there was trade in India/GCC - i.e. when there was no oil and Hindi / RS was commonly used.) So.. some locals will want indians around them as they will trust them... some will not .

If you are single, struggling in Canada or put if differently ... You are not happy financially or want a break from low paid routine jobs with less family time .. then no harm to give it a try.. make some bucks for 2 to 5 years.. come back and start something of your own or use the money to study further or invest time/energy/money on looking for even better job...

If you have moved to Canada.. Are settled.. money is good.. kids are going well . then why move for extra 1000$ a month

You have to remember in middle east houses dont come with cooker, fridge , washing machine etc . You have to buy all these. Actually for the first 1 year you not save much... rather buy all the stuff again.

So do some kind of comparison/make a budget / read about Qatar on the internet and then take a decision.

Thanks for the informative post

Just 02 corrections Imli,

If u check the appointments in Gulf-times u will realise the mandatory "transferable sponsorship" clause which isnt there in other GCCs .Ind /Pak visas are next 2 impossible which isnt the case in Bahrain or the UAE .

If u pay u do get full furnished apartments if I aint mistaken .

Windsor Guy,

Dubai is basically a biased society......unlike Canada.....

Engineers earn Dhs 2000 upto Dhs 30,000 pm

You have never heard of such a divide in Canada....

Do you think Engineers earn upto CAD 30,000 pm

I belive 90% of decent job in Canada pays between CAD 3000 to CAD 7500 pm ie, in canadian language 36k to 90k

With 10 years of experience in the region and 2 yrs in canada I can give you 95% realistics figure of what you can expect......it varies from what you want to achieve......

Tell me first what offer did you receive.....then I'll advise whether its worth it.....

Few examples of salary levels :

Engr in Small contracting co. - Dhs 2000
First timer Engineer form India - Dhs 3000
5 yrs in UAE - Dhs 7500
Oil comapny - Dhs 12,000
Some UK.US experience - Dhs 20,000
US/Canada citizens - Dhs 35,000
Indians with Can/US experience - Dhs 20,000

Deep

Hey Gys:

Just to add some info, i have a canadian national status, so my prospective employer, Qatar bank, told me that visa /labour certificate can be issued in 3-4 days. I got a offer of q10k/pm(though still in process).i am getting 50k in canada. so totally con fused if i move to qatar, is it a good decision or what.

remember, i am married, no kids and wife works a retail job of $8/h:)

Any comments/advise is welcome

My friend was laid off and he was lucky 2 get apointed by QNB who at that time offered him QAR 14k . The job was documentation more or less ! This guy was UK educated though .

Lets scrutinise ur case sincerely . 10k means at least 6k saving pm which equals CAD 3.5k or 12*3.5 = CAD 42k pa savings . 5 years and u ll b richer by CAD 200k. However life and career may not b very interesting but who knows if u make inroads 2 the UAE with ur citizenship and Gulf expereince .

True visa wont be an issue since u r Candian . 10k is good but certainly not the best .ot every1 gets this opportunity so think wisely . Actually judge as per ur career criteroins in long term ur present job v/s the Qatar 1.

Manasvi.
