Manasvi,
Thanks for your response it brings some balance back to this thread from ME perspective.

The salaries and taxes and low cost of living arte a big plus there.
but one never felt anchored, here in Canada one feels completely anchored, job or no job.

Long vacations is a big loss, 2 hr flighs to india is missed dearly.

I do not agree in professionalism part. For the same profession, Canadians work culture are far more professional.

But as you rightly said this is a subjective matter, percieved differently by different people.

Thanks MI :p ,

I meant that in ME technical and skilled pros dont end up doing odd jobs unlike most of their Canadian Immigrant counterparts . A CA works as a CA , an Engineer works as and Engineer . I agree what u say otherwise .

I agree with Manasvi. But, I fail to understand the concept of "security" in canada as advocated by Mr. India. I think Indian a.k.a. brown skinned always face discrimination, everywhere, let be Middle east or Canada. Ok..nobody in Canada is going to throw you out of the country because you are theoritically a citizen of Canada, but, mind you, you are always an alien in Canada...try to cross to US with a Canadian passport, you will understand that.

My take is simple...Once you are out of India, everywhere is same..you make QUICK BUCKS in Middle east and in Canada, you dont..you always start thinking that it is your home, but, something in the very next moment will remind you that it is not....

Vadasamber,
You are right when you say that once we are out of india , one could face discrimination in some form.

Even in india if we go out of our own state there is an undercurrent ...a vibe which makes you realize that one in an outsider there.

Same aplies overseas, and it is only natural after all we did not growup here do nto look the same dont talk in exactly the same way so there has to be some level of feleing different .
Discrimination comes into picture if we get illtreated or are deprived of something because of who we are. And i agree that there might be some stray incidents of disrimiation in Canada as well. But i will also very strongly say that of all the countries in the world , Canada has one of the least discriminitory cultures . It is easy to get acceptewd very easily into the mainstrean and one can be a part of many local / professional and / or social groups. The behaviour of local authorities and general polulace as well is very accepting as well, yes once in a while one can face some odd behaviour but such incidents are very rare.

On the contrary, the discriminitory behaviour towards indians in the middleeast is very open and blatantly discriminatory. I never realized the difference till i came to US/Canada. I dont know if the practice is still followed in Middle east , but 10 yrs back most companies used to take the passports of its expatriate employees . If my employer asks for my passport I can sue them and win in no time. In middleeast , the employees would just quitely give in to employer's demands..

You mention about bad experience at the US border , i agree, the behaviour in US towards brown skin is beginning to change countrywide but not in canada. You can feel the difference when you come back to Canada.

Of all the plaes I have been so far i always sensed a certain level of acceptance by those around me. It is a subjective measurement but it is like taking different readings in different places in an scientific experiment.
And I can vouch , if you want to feel at home anywhere out of India, very few other places come close to Canada.

Misthar India,

Canada is definitely a nice place.....with good standard of living.

But "standard of living" deosn't feed you.....

In Dubai you can work as a Project Manager / Senior Engineer / Chartered Accountant.......unlike in canada where they deliver Pizzas and drive cabs............Indian exp is valid here......nobody asks you to recertify in the third rate Canadian Institution........

For your info, I have first hand exp of :

CBSE vs A level of Canada and
REC vs UOT

It depends on person to person.........those who did not do well in ME should go to Canada..........

Have you heard of a "Tax free" salary of USD 1000 per day ??????Astrnomical is n't it?

They say......It happens only in India........but now in Dubai * deepcb also........

Now u know why people dont leave Dubai* deepcb ?????????

Wherever u are ............if you are making money......u r successful.......

There is nothing in Canada......which you cant buy with money......at least 90% of things..........baseline is

Make money in ME.......make merry in Canada.

Deep

U win some...lose some...everything is not justified in this world.
