You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
I am surprised that journalisitic standards have dipped so low at TOI.
How can they paint all indians with the same brush.
And even if an article like this was published in TOI, why bring it here and give it even more publicity.

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
Mishtar India.. tut tut !
So you see the ugly side of the "Indian Psyche" and got scared ? I am also ashamed of myself..for I have to defend that kind of behaviour perpetuated by my folks...
"Bathroom ? Nahin bete tahin kar lo !"... That takes the cake... sadly such things are even being done in India these days
So whats wrong in pointing it out ?

Mishtar India & Ottawa_Nerd,
Lets admit it. It does happen. Let me relate an incident which I found hilarious.
Place: Bangalore - Brigade Road.
There is a road which is a shortcut from Brigade Road into Magrath Road. The road is poorly lit and in the evenings we find people quietly walking down the road, looking left and right, then quickly relieving themselves. That particular stretch stinks bcos of this.
Last Saturday, while taking this shortcut, we found a couple of policemen standing at a distance, and the minute they found someone relieving himself, they pounced on him and caught him in the act ( with his pants down).
On enquiring, we found out that the guys were slapped with Rs.500 /- fine for this.
Incident 2:
There is an apartment complex coming up, next to our apartment. The workers relieve themselves on the pillars of the complex. ( Maybe to strengthen the pillars ! )
Ayaskant.

Success
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. Bessie Stanley
As an afterthought, I do agree that sometimes TOI hypes these kind of articles. It happens often, in Journalism.
Ayaskant.
