Hello friends,

Is it advisable to get the credentials assessed by "World Education Services - Canada" or "International Credentials Evaluation Service"? If so, is it better to have it done before arriving in Canada ...... or after landing?

I think its waste of money

If you go to Career Bridge or ACCES (http://www.careerbridge.ca/), they suggest WES.

WES is recognized, and funded in part, by the Government of Ontario.

If you want to do a course, better ask the university as to what is their preferred credential evaluation service.

It's wastage of time and money.I had my credentials evaluated from "W.E.S",i went for the document/document evaluation.They charged me $100 for it.Basically,wat i needed was to get a G.P.A equivalent to my percentage.And u know,the only thing they gave me back in their result was :
canadian equivalency:
"Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Enginnering".
So u see, just for this one line,i had to spend $100.And when i asked them how cud i get my G.P.A equivalent,they told me i had to go for the course/course evaluation,and i needed to submit my application again from the start,tht means this time i have to send thm $200.Unfortunately,i didnt had that much money,and so i didnt went for it.
But even after getting this equivalency,it's 3 months i am in canada,and im still findin a job.I am not even gettin a data-entry or a computer operator's job.Who wud better know to operate a computer thn me?Do u need canadian experience,for operating a computer??Might be..who knows.

Can anyone advise whether it is worthwhile for Indian/Pakistani Chartered Accoutants to have their credientials evaluated? Or is it advisable to do any other groundwork before arriving? According to Chartered Accountants of Canada website, qualifications of India/Pakistan are under "re-review", however, it is not clear whether automatic recognition will be given.

I submitted my application in Jan04 and am still awaiting outcome.
