Dear crenshaw

Thanks for your reply.
Do agree that i need to be there for apartments/Jobs
Both cannot be done sitting in Kuwait.

But need to clarrify that - will property managers conduct rental contracts or do we need a real estate agent to supervise the contract.

Thanks

Hi CA

You won't need a real estate agent (not for rentals anyway), the rental contracts are standard forms that the landlord will get you to sign.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Check out http://www.renters.ca/renters/index.cfm for apartments on rent .

Mississauga is a great placeto stay and Square one rocks. However i moved downtwon as its more comfortable to commute and work downtown. not many call centrer jobs in Mississauga as compared to Toronto. I suggest you find a apartment near Islington/Kipling subway. you are looking at rrents between CAD 750 - 1000 for a 1 bedroom apartment etc./ There are many recruiters downtown and many deal with call center jobs. Kelly services , apple one are some. you can find them on Google canada along with other recruiters. Check out http://www.workopolis.ca for the latest jobs each day. its a HOT site.

Wish you all the best.

Hi DP jain.

How do we look for apartments in Canada ?

Do we approach buildings directly ( In Kuwait each building has a caretaker and he tells you and does all contract etc - No middle man etc)

Is it same in Toronto or

Do we go to some real estate agent and he takes us around ?
Do real estate agents charge us fees or the landlord.

Thanks

Yes, u approach building directly. Every apt biilding is managed by a property management co. that keeps a onsite super/property manager. U contact him/her.

U need not hire a real estate agent for this service.

just walk in the buildings that you like and ask the super. they somethimes dont give apts without more info though like your monthly income.

one super told us to get a garantor as we havent worked here for very long so avoid starting your conversation with hi i am new in toronto..let it come out later when theve invested a bit by showing u the apt!

avoid areas not connected properly by subway, it can be a big problem on weekends when bus service is not so good! and welcome in canada soon.

CA:

The beast thing is to come in canada, stay on rent for 7 days in a motel or short term accomodation if you dont have any friends/ or relatives where u can stay initially. For finding apartments, going to building physically and talking to superintendent is the best way. Also, there are free rental magazines. If looking for call centre jobs, live around north york..easy access to subway as well.
