I am a Canadian citizen for 7 years and I have been living in Canada for 12 years. I was born in Sri Lanka. Recently I got laid off and went to back to Sri Lanka and got married. Now I am back in Canada and receving EI benefit and looking for job.
My question is should I wait until I get a job before I apply for sponsorship of my wife?
I know that financial requirement does not apply for spousal sponsorship. But I don't want to take any chances and I want to do it right the first time.
If I am applying right away, should I send them my tax return for 2003 and 2002 to indicate my earning potential.
Thank you in advance for your advise.
Siva.
I am looking for an assurance from someone who has done it before. Sponsored his/her spouse while receiving EI and sucessfully completed the process.
Thanks,
Siva.
