There are 10,000 members on this site .

Is there anyway we can facilitate each giving his own stats in a columnar way like

age year_of_imig country province field_before field_after .

this may take only 2 mins for a single person but may provide 2*10000 = 20,000 minutes worth of statistics to new comers .

Manasvi.

Ok I've got a work around to the problem of formatting. Not the best but better than what it was. The posts perhaps does not recognize spaces, and so I've separated the entries and columnized them using '---'s. At least now it gives the feel of columns.

While your suggetions are relevant, comparing it to what one was and what one is now in Canada, might be success or failure in different people's view.

As an example, before I moved to Canada, I had worked at level of VP, President and even Director Finance and drew a TAKE HOME of over 100 k. However, I moved to Canada for different reasons than money and position and knew clearly that I will neither want nor get similar position. I would consider myself successful even if I am able to land a job or vocation which gives me a net family income of say 75k, where I can have a balance of work and family life (which I did not have earlier), send my children to the prestigious universities which I myself or my brothers could not afford when we were students, OR even get a low paying job in a well known MNC - a desire that I have had throughout my career.

At the same time I fully agree that narration of background would give a better picture to a reader, and if one's own's expectation from move to Canada is mentioned, it would bette define the story and reasons of success and be educative too.

First thing we need to remember is that Canada is a plca of Immigrants. They have conservative approach in any field. We should not compare it to USA, rather compare it to Mexico. Both are neighbours of USA.
When we come to Canada, specially from USA, we expect the same aggresive approach and get frustrated.
I worked as VP- Marketing & Sales in USA, Singapore, Australia and India. When I came to Canada, I prepared myself to start from scratch but never lost confidence.
Gradually my past experience started getting recognized within the organization and within 2 years I reached to atleast a respectable position. I also see that in next 3-4 years, I might get the same position I was working on i.e. VP.
With my experience, to grow and be successfull in Canada, you need to proove yourself to get recognized.
So the Confidence, Patience and prooving yourself could be some of the points to consider for being successfull in Canada.:)

Diogenes,
Btw, I would urge YOU to post your own success story here too. Please let us know about your job-hunt experiences.

I have added myself to the list, but that is only because, for the purpose the premise of "successful" has been selectively delimited to securing a reasonably well paying job.
May I ask you also BL, to please add your name to the list with relevant details.
And where are the others?
Incidentally, since I cannot post a reply to MishtarIndia's recent post in "success stories", I wanted to ask him how many "first generation" immigrants he has come across who own BMWs and Mercs? We do indeed see many many CDs who are rich and flourishing. There is no denying that fact, but it would be interesting to know how many of those are first generation ones.
And that just makes me a tad curious - Any current CDs on this board who own a BMW(above 3 series)/Merc(over C240)/Jaguar(over 'X' type) etc. .....ummm a new one I mean:D. Just want to know what it feels like inside one of those. Are they really worth the price and in what way?
