Then it will be a cakewalk!!!

With the qualifications that you have mentioned no need to worry at all.

Yes, the only hitch is the spouse has to be on husband`s visa( as most of them are) or can manage to get her visa if the school so desires. She cannot sponsor the husband or family as the min. income level for family sponsorship is high.

Sorry if I misconveyed - I know that with these qualifications, my wife will not have any problems getting a job. But my actual question is - how much can she expect to get as salary and benefits, and can she get a work permit in her name (I am sure some American/Europeon schools do arrange for that)

In Singapore, as a comparison, I can easily expect her to get about S$3500pm (about US$ 2000) at the minimum.

In Kuwait "ASK - American School of Kuwait" employees every 2 years 35 canadian teachers on two year contracts with paid tickets for 2 ( teacher & spouse). Accomodation is on the School. I think Salary is 750KD. ( 1KD = 4 CAD). Other British and Anerican Schools are always on lookout for teachers with North American experience/or native english speakers.

I too would like to move to Dubai/Bahrain etc. Any idea where I can look for opportunites in IT software development. I have several years experience in Oracle Forms/PLSQL. ANy help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Dio,

In case if looking for job opportunities in Dubai then check out the appointment section in Khaleej times. (www.khaleejtimes.com)

Dubai has an internet city and there is a media city next to it where CNN has its regional office. Jebel Ali is an industrial port area in Dubai which is about 25 mins drive away from the centre of Dubai and a number of MNC's are located there. Residential areas have being recently build in Jebel Ali and the rents are cheaper there compared to the cost in Bur Dubai, Jumeriah.

In case if you have a Canadian citizenship then it will be much easier for you to get a UAE visa.

Regards,

Nikhil

Thanks for the info Nikhil. Yes I am a Canadian citizen and hold a Canadian passport. But I need a job in Dubai before I can think of moving there.

have a look at this:

Once you have a canadian passport, you dont need a visa to visit UAE. You can get one instantly at the airport for a very nominal fee and can stay upto three months.
