7. What documents should I provide to obtain a visitor visa?
* A completed application form and the required personal information form
* Three recent original passport-size photographs for each person included in the application. Please note that scanned photographs are not acceptable.
*The correct fee
*Your passport : Please note that the Canadian High Commission does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have a blank page to which to affix a visa, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.
* A letter from your employer or school granting you a holiday or leave of absence.
*Evidence of funds in your name or evidence of support available for your expenses while in Canada as well as proof of sufficient funds to leave Canada (bank statements, income tax papers, business registration, balance sheet, etc.). Cash, travellers cheques or credit cards are not accepted as proof of funds.
* Children under 18 travelling without one or both parents or without a legal guardian must provide a notarized authorisation for travel signed by both parents or by the parent or legal guardian not travelling. This authorization should also be available for presentation at the port of entry to Canada.
* Please provide only photocopies of all documents. However, please note that we reserve the right to request the original of any document provided.
[If you are going on a visit to family or friends, you should provide:]
* a letter of invitation from your relative or friend that includes their full name, address, contact telephone and fax numbers, your name and relationship to the invitor, the intended duration of the visit, and a statement concerning who will pay for the trip expenses;
* a notarized copy of your invitor's citizenship or immigration status document (to demonstrate that they are legally in Canada)
* if your invitor will be paying for the trip from Canada, financial supporting documents to prove that they can afford to support this visit, including
* a notarized copy of the summary page of their most recent Notice of Assessment form from Revenue Canada
a letter from their employer stating the length of their employment and salary, if applicable
* proof of self-employment letter for your invitor, if applicable
a bank or other savings statement certified by your branch manager (optional)
[If you are going on a business visit, you should provide:]
* a formal letter of invitation from the inviting company including your invitor's full name and title, business address, contact telephone and fax numbers, your own name and title, the intended duration of the visit, a brief summary of the reasons for the visit and a statement concerning who will pay for the trip expenses
* copies of any additional documents that outline the business to be conducted during the visit. These may include, but are not limited to business correspondence, proof of previous business conducted (contracts, shipments, orders, invoices, etc.)
* Contact names, titles, and addresses, phone and fax numbers for third parties with whom you have arranged meetings
* a notarized copy of your invitor's citizenship or immigration status document (to demonstrate that they are legally in Canada)
[I live in Canada. How do I invite a friend or relative to visit me?]
To invite a relative or friend, you should provide that person with the following documents to be submitted with their application:
