1. I am a Canadian citizen and I am going to be marrying someone from India. Can you tell me how I would bring her to Canada?
To bring someone to Canada you must submit a sponsorship application form at a Canadian Immigration office nearest you. Along with the application form, you must also pay a processing fee of approximately $500. This is a non-refundable amount and therefore will not be returned to you even if your application is refused.

2. I am currently residing in India and I have recently been engaged to someone in Canada. I am thinking of coming to Canada in August so that we can be married. How much time does Canada Immigration allow for an immigrant to come to Canada for the purposes of marriage?
Canada Immigration allows sponsored immigrants 90 days to come to Canada and get married. If the marriage does not occur within the 90 days, the immigrant must report back to immigration officials and may ultimately be deported back to India.

3. If I sponsor someone and bring them to Canada, am I financially responsible for him/her?
The sponsor is financially responsible for the immigrant until both parties are married. When you file a sponsorship application form, you must give full details of your financial status (for example whether or not you own a house and have a decent job etc.). This information allows immigration officials to assess whether or not you are capable of financially supporting your spouse while in Canada.

4. How long does Canada Immigration take to process a sponsorship application?
The time to process each application varies with each case depending on the complexity. If your spouse meets all immigration requirements the application form can typically be processed within six months.

5. As a sponsor, what qualifications do I need to successfully bring someone to Canada?
You must be:
1. 19 years of age or over
2. A Canadian citizen,or permanent resident
living in Canada
3. Financially stable.
4. Free of any violations of a previous
sponsorship agreement.
5. Not facing criminal charges.

6. If canada allows dual citizenship, does one have to surrender indian passport?
For a person to retain dual citizenship (ie. citizenship to two countries), both countries must have legislation that approves of dual citizenship. Canada has regulation in place that allows dual citizenship, but India does not. According to Indian legislation, once you decide to be a Canadian Citizen, you automatically give up your right to Indian Citizenship.

7. If my would-be-wife, who is a Canadian, gets married to me (Indian)in India, is she eligible to sponsor for Spouse visa and is there chance of rejection? She will be carrying with her our Marriage Certificates and photos. How long it will take to process?
With regards to your first question; your Canadian fiance is eligible to sponsor you to come to Canada. If Canadian Immigration deems her financial and economic stability to be weak, then there is a chance for rejection. Canadian Immigration will also consider your capacity to obtain work upon migration to Canada. If your qualifications are lacking than there is also a chance for rejection. With regards to your second question; the time it takes to obtain a spousal visa varies from case to case depending on the complexity and availability of necessary documents. It also depends on the current back log of Canadian Immigration. If they have a large number of visa applications to process, than they may take a while to process your visa.

8. I would like to ask about sponsoring my brother. I have a full time job and how can I sponsor my brother. I am single family member in Canada. All of my family is in India. Is it possible for me to sponsor my brother without sponsoring my parents because they are not interested to come to Canada?
Canadian Immigration does allow you to sponsor your family but the definition of "family" only includes your parents (and their children if under 18 years of age), and your spouse. It does NOT include brothers and sisters. This means that if your brother is under 18 years of age, you can bring him to Canada by sponsoring your parents. If your brother is over 18 years of age, you can not sponsor him. He must apply for immigration on his own merit based on things such as academics.

9. I am a Canadian landed (immigrant) and wish to sponsor my fiance in India is it easier or the same if we get married in India and then I sponsor her? in other words, is it any different if I sponsor my fiancee versus sponsoring my wife? i do know that if i sponsor a fiancee, we must get married within 90days or she must return But i am unsure in terms of processing time or application approval chances-are these two different for fiancee and wife?
If you were to sponsor your wife, the processing/approval time would be much less than if you were to sponsor your fiancee. Canadian Immigration would process everything faster since she is already your wife.

10. I am on work term in Canada and my visa is valid for next 2 years. I am drawing around CD$60,000 Per annum, now i am going to India to get married, can i bring her to Canada with me immediately and can she live with me in canada as far as I stay, If yes what is the procedure ?
Canada Immigration should approve a visa for your fiance since you are stable economically within Canada. You must apply for a visa from Canada Immigration on behalf of your fiance. Be sure to include the details of your situation along with your income. If you intend to stay in Canada permanently, you should also apply for immigration status as well.

11. I came in Canada on student visa for 2 years and landed in Jan,2000. In the mean time if I will marry with canada settled girl. What is the process she should follow to get me canadian immegration & how much time it will take?
If you are considering marrying a Canadian girl you should keep records of all your meetings prior to your marriage. This will serve as evidence to Immigration Canada, that you and your wife are seriously married. You should get married first before you get your wife to apply for sponsorship to avoid undue hassles. Once you are married, ask your wife to apply for sponsorship and most likely you shouldn't have any problems receiving permanent residency status.

12. I'm a Computer Professional and I own a Web Hosting company in India. I want to permanently migrate to Canada. Please help me by providing the best possible ways?
Some of the main ways to migrate to Canada for a professional such as yourself are:
1. Apply directly to the Canadian Embassy for immigration based on your status as a Computer Professional. They will assess your skills and determine whether or not Canada is in need of Computer professionals with your skills.
2. The second alternative is to find someone to marry in Canada. They can then sponser you, to come to Canada as a permanent immigrant.
3. The third thing you can do is buy an existing business in Canada, and come over with a Business Visa. Of course, you have to have enough money to buy a business, so this may not be the most attractive route for you. What I have listed here are some of the main ways used to come to Canada, they are by no means a comprehensive list of the options available to you.

13. I have a question regarding sponsoring my fiancee who is planning on coming to Canada from Mauritius so we can be married in June 2003...I was wondering what is the process involved and how long would it be before he can live in Canada with me?
The first thing you should do is apply for sponsorship from your local Canadian Immigration office, as soon as possible. Once you fill out the necessary papers, Canada Immigration will inform you whether or not you are qualified to sponsor your fiancee. If you qualify, you can sponsor your fiancee to come to Canada for 90 days for the purpose of marriage. The length of time for each sponsorship application varies with the complexity of each case. For instance, if Mauritius is currently having a lot of problems with immigration to Canada, it may take you longer to sponsor your fiancee immediately. Once you apply for sponsorship, the Canadian Immigration Department you are dealing with will be able to give you a better indication of the amount of time it will take to bring your fiancee to Canada based on your specific circumstances.
