Actually Jago-desis angle is one that will work well in a medium like animation. It may not be very cerebral but sometimes simplicity works best to get a message across.
e.g:
It would be pretty simple for me to make the audience identify with an irritated Shiva...frowning, snarling lip, enlarged eyes. This would be entertaining too(more drama).
On the other hand, a contemplative Shiva would be boring due to lack of drama(this is more true in animation...especially short film animations where brevity is of the essence).

So at the basic level the first potrayal would work very well. There are audiences that respond to that level. The more cerebral ones will treat it as a piece of the larger puzzle and draw more conclussions, as long as the film-maker can give them some rope to do so. My quest is to connect to both levels.

So all your comments, however simplistic, are as important as the cerebral ones.
