Chandresh,

If I recall, sometime back on one of the threads you had made a request to the successful CDs to give their inputs about your resume. Apparently, quite a few had come forward to help you, and had asked you to send your resume to them. They had promised to work on it, the best they could, to bring it up to the standard of resumes they thought would be appreciated and desired by Canadian employers, thereby improving your chances of getting a break.

I was wondering if that exercise is over and what "shine" has been added to your resume?

Since, as per my observation, you have not been reluctant to share your qualifications, experience etc., would you mind sharing some of the changes that have been made to your resume that you think has now made it a "killer"??

I would also suggest, that people who have been successful, and attribute a part of it to the resume they built, should be requested to post the contents for everybody's benefit and education. To resolve the issue of privacy and confidential information, they can post it under an anonymous ID(one that can be created by a mod and given to these members on request).

Also, instead of posting it in a thread or forum, they may put it up in the "articles" section or maybe a similar new section can be set up by the mods for the purpose.

Additionaly, any personal information like name, university particulars, employer names and addresses etc may be deleted/omitted from the resumes. I do not think there would be anything wrong in retaining the essence and other details of education and experience e.g, academic discipline, level of education, type and length of experience etc.
The purpose is to make available, as many as possible of these resumes, that can be used as a "template" by others who can sift thro them and pick the one they think is the best-fit for their individual case.

Two members on this forum had come forward to give suggestions and I have implemented them in my resume. I do not know whether it has added any shine or not - but definitely gives a different look than my original. I still have to hear from some employer, so cannot say if the changes made have been attractive to the employer - or is it plain that I am not needed!:)

That's the silliest remark I have come across on this board. I and reluctant to share? My god! people have wondered how come I have been so open to them even on my personal things, let alone my educational / professional qualifications. Perhaps I have been like a 'khuli kitab' on CD and at times I wonder if writing all this openly on internet can cause me problems?

Anyway, to answer your question: I am a B.Com and CA (from Ernst & Young), and a CPA (in first sitting). Professional experience has been in Accounting, International Finance, local and international banking, commodity trading, financial arbitrages and leverages, property development and management and shrimp farming to name the main!

Now can you help get a job of say $35k atleast?

Chandresh

Chandresh ji! I am sorry but at times you do not seem to be attentive enough when you read what I write. Is it that you are somehwhat prejudiced against me or is it really oversight??:D
Here is what I wrote:

Do you see the eighth word in that sentence? It says "NOT". Since you have NOT been reluctant etc etc..
Ok don't smack your head!!:D

Zara kindly ek baar phir se meri post padhiyega?
I didn't ask you for details. I requested that you post the modified resume that you now have so that others may learn from it and see what a truly Canadian resume looks like after having been worked upon by the "successful" ones.
Ustadon ke approval wala ek dekhein to sahee. Arrey humko to kisi turuh naukri mil gayee thee aur usee mein abhee tuk chipke huey hein. Hamre resume mein to koi khaas nahin tha. Ab kya pataa ee naukariya kal rahe na rahe. Aakhir sasuree theheri to naukri hi na?? Tub hamein bhee banaana padega Canadian standard ka "dhansu" resume. So, abhee-ye se practice karna chaloo kar diya jaaye, to usmein buraai kiya hai??
Samjhe noo?

Chandresh,

If you do go ahead and post your resume, I would suggest you black out all parts except the formatting.

Its of course your call but I think posting your resume on an open forum crosses a line of privacy that I would not be comfortable crossing.

Are you there?

Agreed. The purpose is to know the language and formatting. Delete the real "information" stuff. Giving hard information is the same in all types of resumes.

For example if there is a line that reads:
"7 years of experience leading a team of 5 developers in a project for building a system using .NET that helped the company achieve an increase in profits by $500,000."

Change that to read:
"X years of experience leading a team of X people in a project for building a system using X<technology> that helped the company achieve an increase in profits by $X."

The intention is not to learn about the "contents" of the resume, but to know how to present information. Real world finished examples, that have worked will help.
