Hi All,

1) I have an international gold credit card, which I use extensively in India. Can I keep on using the same card in Canada, instead of taking all the associated pains in trying to get a credit card from some bank in Canada?
Also, I have an international Debit card (VISA), and I plan to use it in Canada for my everyday expenses. The expenditures that I would incur via this card will be debited directly from my bank account in India.
Any problems that I might face if I do this? Can someone throw light on this??

2) My wife is a teacher in pre-primary section of a reputed school in Mumbai? Can she take up a teaching job in any pre-primary section of a Canadaian school, or is it mandatory to secure the Teaching license before one can teach (even the pre-primary sections)?
What are the job opportunities for someone with 6 yrs. teaching experience and having proffessional teaching degree from India?

Thanx

You can use it - MasterCard and Visa are international anyway.
However, you will find that the currency exchange is not in your favour and before you realise it, your bank account in India will get drained.
Also, you will find that "taking all the associated pains in trying to get a credit card from some bank in Canada" is a really necessary step.
Unless you have a Canadian credit card, you won't be able to build Canadian credit history, which is necessary for qualifying for more important loans like car, home, etc.

You will have to start small with the Canadian credit card initially, but can build up your credit-worthiness slowly.
It is best to get a Canadian credit card as soon as you can after arriving in Canada.
Of course, hardly any bank/lender will give you a credit card until you have a job.
But as soon as you get a job, you should apply for a credit card.

The bank will love you for this - the currency exchange is in their favour and against you.
When you first arrive, you will find that there are lot of initial settling-down expenses that you have to take the hit for.
If you use your Indian debit and credit cards for this, your funds in India will be gone in no time.
Plus, a lot of banks may charge fees for foreign currency transactions.
As I said, it is great for the bank - may not be so for you :)

I think some sort of license or certification would definetely be required.
There is hardly any professional body in Canada that recognises foreign credentials.
Someone else here might be able to throw a more accurate light on this.

Hope this helps some.

Why do you want to start a new phase of your life with a fraud?
That's not a very good start, is it?
You seem to be educated and have good work experience - why do you want to resort to these kinds of frauds?

The ethics apart, this may not even work.
CHC does conduct pretty thorough checks for all cases, especially the ones with "arranged employement", because a lot of fraud (like yours) happens under this category.
If at any point, it is found out that your employment arrangement is phoney, your case will be immediately terminated.

Even if you do manage to immigrate on that basis, if the job was phoney in the first place, what would you do here.
You would be in no better position than if you applied without that so-called "arranged employment" - you will still have to search for a job and go through all the struggles that every immigrant goes through.

Also, keep in mind that immigration fraud is a very serious crime (equal to a felony).
If something surfaces even after years and you are a Canadian Citizen by then, your citizenship can be revoked.

This is my opinion, of course - the call is yours.

You have to indicate what qualification your wife has in pre-primary teaching. Here they accept Early Childhood Education (ECE) with teaching experience using method taught in ECE or Montessori Education.
If your wife has ECE, she will be required to complete 200 hrs volunteer and apply for equivalence for her degree and work. She may have to take couple of papers but will get a provisional working license.Equivalence form has number of question required to be answered with your practicla experience.
If she has montessori education and teaching experience, then get very good verifiable reference letter from the montessori school which may help her to get a part time employment initialy after offering 2 - 3 months of volunteer services in montessori school.
If she has B Ed then probably pre-primary experience will not be of much use to her and has to start her career all again.

Hi Jago_Desi and All,

Thanks for the information.

Do you have the website links where the montessori/private schools are listed? Also, would like to have the name of the placement agents who specializes in this type of placements in montosseri/private schools. (TO area)

What is the current market demand for this type of teaching jobs in TO, and how much do that pay (average)?

Thanx

You are not telling us qualification background and experience. Give qualification details etc. to have exact information. If education is not in teaching then no agency can get you job. It is a regulated profession here.
