Google has come up with new application named Google Suggest.

It is still in BETA version, but I am sure your searches will not remain as before. They will be faster more precise....it will give u suggetions while typing into the textbox

So why don't you just try out by yourself.

There is also a tool from google to search on your desktop. You can get it from http://desktop.google.com/?promo=app-gds-en-us. It can search in outlook also. Similar to google it is pretty fast.
