I have few bengali songs which were "recreated" into Hindi. First and foremost, "Aaj Hridaye Bhalo" which is "Kora Kagaz Tha". Then I have "Rooposhi"

Naushad's compositions were creame-de -la creame !... But
"Hai agar dushman dushman zamana hum nahin nahin
koi aaye koi hum kisi se kam nahin kam nahin"
and those were the days when "Mamma Mia " was ruling the roost !

Madan Mohan and qawwali ?....Maybe
"Haal kya hai dilon ka na poochon sanam
aapka muskurana gazab dha gaya"
Quote:Yes, that is true
Naushad was the qawwali maestro !..but barring a few exceptions...qawwalis = Md. Rafi....

Who wrote Naushad's lyrics. I am listening to a lot of Deedar, udan khatola songs thesedays. But I just have the cassetes , the cover is gone.
I know the director is Naushad. Is the Lyricist Shakeel?

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

Sorry, I don't.
That is a cheap remix of pop/hip-hop in qawalli style.
I feel sad that Rafi had to sing it.

For me, a quintessential qawalli is --
"Na to karwaan hi talash hai
Na to humsafar ki talash hai
Mere Shauk-e-khana kharab ko
Teri Rah-e-Guzar ki talash hai"

I disagree with that statement. That qawali is just a proof of Pancham's versatility. He could only come up with "Aa Dil Kya Mehfil Hai Tere" and "Hai Agar Dushman" in the same movie. Forget the Rafi Part, listen to the highs and lows in Asha's voice.

And if that was not sufficient, listen to the qawali "Pal Do Pal Ka Saath Hamara, Pal Do Pal Ke Yaarane Hai" from "The Burning Train". It is the magic of Asha again. And the same movie has the ghazal "Kisi Ke Vaade Pe Kyon" by Asha. I do not think any other MD except Pancham has given such wide variety of compositions.
Quote:He didn't have to.
But could Roshan come up with an equivalent of "Dum Maro Dum" or "Phir Wohi Raat Hai" or "O Maazi Re"?
Quote:I know you will hit the roof if I say this, but IMO AR Rehman sounds more like a computer software creating music.
I do not know the singers, but Rehman has come up some with really good Sufi songs. Listen to the qawali in Bombay "Kahena Hi Kya" or "Piya Haji Ali" from "Fiza".
