I applied for permanent immigration in Buffalo in May 04 and received my file number in Jun 04. I am moving to India in Feb of 2005. should I transfer my file? I heard that they dont transfer files anymore. If not, I do have a local correspondence address for the US where my mail can be sent. Should I change my address to that or the one in India?
Any suggestions or thoughts?
June..

Hi Chap,
Why are moving back from Baltimore to India in first place ?. I remember Baltimore as nice place with lots of nightclubs. Few years back I drove to that place from Rockville in dead night. Cool place man during night.
Any way coming to your question. Man , in case you are coming back to India. You are coming into black hole. Very difficult to get out of it. CHC Delhi is taking now 4-5 years officially to process Canadian PR case. In case you decide to give new mailing address of India. CHC might decide to move you file to india. You will get new file no. That means process starts again. Just starts counting on time ?,say you file get transfer now. Not before 2011 you will see light of paradise called North America again. Better give another local address of US. Also better get visitor visa or sort of for US.The buffalo office is fastest processing center on earth.

Your file will most probably not be transferred. You have to provide them with your new address and if you want to change your mailing address to India, you can do that as well. Make sure you are able to attend eventual interview in USA.

Massoodji,
I had posted this message a few weeks back. I am here again with an update on my file and a few questions for you. I just received my initial assessment and I do not have to go a personal interview ( Whew!). However, I have to turn in some additional documents along with medicals, RPRF. The additional documents required are reference letters from curent employers ( I have that ready), proof of funda ( I have that ready too, and French Language assesment ( I did claim points for French, have taken a few courses, but I guess they are looking for TEF, which I dont have)
So, here are my questions.
1. I am still moving back to India ( next week), for good. I am going to appear for TEF and do my Medicals there. Should I change my address right away, or send it with the additional documents that are required? Or not change the mailing address at all ( now that my interview is waived)?
2. Is TEF the only French assesment exam? I had submitted my college transcripts and a French essay at the time of application.
3. The letter says that medicals should be be done withing 60 days, and the documents should be submitted withing 90 days from the date of the letter. Can I do the medicals and then send all the results, additional documents together...or should I get done with medicals and send them the results ASAP.
4. After I send them everything, what will be the next step?
Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks
June

1. You don't have to change your mailing address. However, you should inform them of your new residential address when you submit the new docs.
2. Only TEF is acceptable.
3. If you can everything within 60 days, why not!
4. Passport(s) request and visa(s) issuance.
