Urgent help Work Permit Renew/Transfer !!!!!

I an Indian IT professional in Toronto,Canada on the work permit , I came here in April 2004 , my work with my current Canadian employer is completed , I have work permit/visa that is valid only my present employer till Oct/ 2005,

Now I find a new job here with some company in Toronto , I need to transfer/renew
with employer change for the work permit . As my current employer is relieving me
on Jan 15 2005 and my new employer is filing the application for work permit that normally take 4-5 weeks . I am not sure whether I can stay in Canada after Jan 15/2005 and wait my work permit got transfer to the new employee and after that I can start working with them .

My current employer will inform HRDC the given employer is no longer with us after 15 Jan2005 , and they don't have any problem if I will join some other company.
But I am sure whether I can stay in Canada after Jan15/2005 , I have valid work
visa w-1 and work permit with my current employer..

Whats is possiblity of the transfer of the work permit to another employer ???

I will really appreicate if someone can guide me on this issue.

During the time that the new employer's application is being processed, you'll be ok.

Thankss a lot Mr Massood !!!

I want to ask I am filing for work permit renwal with employer
change for 3 years , I don't know whether its easier to get
work permit extension with new employer for 1 year or 3 years ???

Applying for 3 yrs shouldn't be any problem while processing
by CIC , HRDC ??

Any help will be very much appreciated .

renewal is usually for another one year.
