I just saw a couple of guys sharing their timelines on this forum and so i thought i should share mine as well.
Applied - June 2000 - CHC New Delhi (All the documents sent)
Moved to Singapore for work
AOR - August 2000
Sometime in FQ 2001 - Sent PCC from Indian Consultate in Singapore to CHC New Delhi
Sometime later in 2001 - Sent Singapore PCC to CHC New Delhi
Nov 2002 - My Agent notified me that IELTS can expedite my processing
Jan 2003 - prepared and gave IELTS
Feb 2003 - Got IELTS results - Band 7.5 , Sent it immediately to CHC New Delhi
Mar 2003 - Got an Interview Waiver letter from CHC New Delhi + request for medicals
Apr 2003 - Came to india - Got Medicals done - sent them to CHC New Delhi
Moved to USA
Dec 2003 - Got a Request for Passport RFP from CHC New Delhi
Applied for FBI Clearance
Jan 2004 - Sent FBI Clearance to CHC new Delhi
Feb 2004 - Sent my passport to india thru a close relative and he couriered it to
CHC New Delhi
May 2004 - Got my passport back from CHC New Delhi unstamped as medicals expired + a request to renew my medical
May 2004 end - resent my medicals from USA
Sep 2004 early - Got passport back at my india address stamped.
with an Expiry Date Jun-2005
Nov 2004 - a close relative carried my passport back to US and gave it to me.
Hope this helps everyone.
i would strongly recommend give IELTS and dont apply from india.
Even if you are in india, go to a different country and apply.
Also if you are in US, dont waste your time, justgo ahead and apply and you should get your canadian PR in 1.5 to 2 years max i guess.

As far as i know it has been mad compulsory by cic to apply from the
country of your origin. If i am a indian citizen i can only apply from india
