Maintaining status and if possible Eligibility for Citizenship Applications
Mr. Massood,
I looked up the forum for residency questions and didn;t find much.
I have been working in US for the last 2 years
I just got my passport stamped two months back for PR and the expiry date on my VISA is June 2005 but i will planning to travel in Feb 2005.
The Question i had is that after immediately landing in Canada, how can i get started on accumulating my residency without permanently moving to canada for about 1 year.
Can i do things like
1. Renting a house, opening a bank account, being employed by a Canadian
firm at minimum wages. Can things like actually help me in accumulating residency days without physically being in canada for a few months. This is because i cant give up my job in US for about 8 to 9 more months and still want to start accumulating the residency from the landing day.???
2. Also what documents would be required during landing.
passport, CPR - confirmation of permanent residence, proof of funds.
anything else? do they ask any questions?
I can travel to Canada once a month during this time frame because i stay in Detroit very close to Windsor and even Toronto.
What is the proof of residency required for Applying for a Canadian Citizenship 3 years down the line ?
Any pointers would be of great help and i can really go in a planned way and not just enter Canada for the sake of it.
Thnks in Advance
Rgds.
