I am planning to land early April in Toronto. My friend who is there has recommended I not rent a car since there may be snow and roads are slippery. I can not stay with my friend because he is single and has roommates and my wife is with me.
I have got a good deal and booked a room for one week at the following hotel

Holiday Inn Toronto-Airport East, ON
600 Dixon Road
Etobicoke, Ontario M9W 1J1
Canada

I have a little knowledge of Toronto ( I know a little knowledge can be dangerous) because I had stayed there a week when I had come for H1 stamping. This hotel is offering shuttle bus service for free to airport. I also know there is a bus from airport to Kipling station. Does anybody know if there could be direct bus from this hotel to any major Subway or Go station ?
We need to go to a few places in Toronto. We have taken a risk and booked this hotel anyway so please suggest transportaion options.
Appreciate your help in advance
Thanks.

Early April should not be that slippery like it is right now.
A lot of the snow would have melted by then.
However, one never knows.
If you will primarily be moving around in Mississauga and Toronto, then play it safe and use public transport.

This is a good hotel.
Close to the airport, and has several stores, restuarants, etc, nearby.
I am sure you will be able to find Mississauga Transit buses nearby to connect to TTC transport.

April would be a better time for road conditions. Are you returning back after a week? If so,I'd suggest staying in Toronto in the city. You would have more places to look around and with subway access you wont have to drive around everywhere.
You can get good deals in hotels in Downtown as well if you book early on .

.

From this place you can walk down to Martin Groove Rd about a block and get TTC bus 46 to Kipling Subway if you plan to visit places in Toronto. If you want to go to Mississauga probably best way is to take a Cab and move or rent Car.

Thanks for all the useful info.
This time we will only be staying for a week for our PR landing. If there is still no progress on my US Green card by Jan 2006 I will start working on getting transferred to our Toronto office and will try to move in Summer 06 if possible so we can get settled while it is summer.
My company's Toronto offices are actually located near Shephard subway station near North York. - so will try to look for some apt in that area.
Do you recommend I rent a car when I come in April or is Public Transport decent enough. I have to go see a few places but its not like I have to be there by 9 AM or 10 AM so wondering if I could possible get away with public transport.
Ive done sopme research and looked at TTC maps and it seems a Bus number 46 goes directly from near this hotel to Kipling station.

If in GTA I need to go from point A to point B using public transport is there a resource I can use ?
Is there say a number I can call and they tell me take this bus this train etc ?
Another Q I had was that in the map it shows Kipling station as being a point for both TTC and GO train ? Can we take GO train from Kipling station to Missisauga Square 1 ?
plz advice.

Thanks

You can get Mississauga transit bus from Kipling or Islington to Square 1 and it has good frequency.

You can check for customer care numbers from the respective sites of the transit system you might be using
